I believe that your subsequent most recent post was a "Broken Link" which you might want to resend.

If you're referring to me, I deleted it as it turned out the customer who was claiming to have received an email from Octopus was just 'having a laugh'.

Well having waited 9 months to get a smart meter installed and then 3 weeks for it to go live on Octopus system, I have just switched to Agile at what looks like the most expensive time of its existance. I suspect during the lockdown a lot of maintenance has been taking place on the Nuclear facilities (at one point last week only 60% were online). Hence the expense.

Current state of play with nuclear facilities
Number of units in service: 9 of 16
Number of reactors in service: 8 of 15

On this basis are there grounds for hope that the present spike (Elec 16.63 here) will be short lived?
Interested to see that you were also using solar panels. I have wondered if this "conflicts" with using Agile as intended.

Yes :D those who plug TOU Agile tariff, never ever mention that high rates can be off peak hours as well as 4pm-7pm, it occured  during January as well
Irony is the phrase "What you are failing to mention " ;)

Awesome. Is it possible to use any of Guy Lipman's extensive publications (or any other) to guesstimate price trends over the summer?

Perhaps, but his prediction for tomorrow (black line) didn't fare very well against the actual price (red line):
