    "add around £190"

Why? Just add the standing charges for gas and electricity together then multiply by 365.
The £190 is the standing charges at 26p per utility per day
That’s approximately true for the gas standing charge but electricity is less than 24p per day.
Depends on what region of the country you are in some are lower, like yours at 24p and some are higher, like mine at 26p per day.
Someone please tell me what money is
  • I haven't checked it out (yet) but I suspect that differences of ~ 1 p / day SC count for relatively little compared with differences in p / kWh.  No doubt someone can enlighten me (using average consumption figures). I was led to believe that us in the North East come relatively high in the pecking order overall.

These are the cap totals for a 'typical' user with gas & electricity (3100kWh/12,000kWh) sorted in ascending order of cap value...
    East Midlands 1228.98
    Northern 1231.38
    Yorkshire 1231.97
    North West 1232.32
    Southern Scotland 1237.63
    Midlands 1248.5
    Eastern 1254.02
    Northern Scotland 1259.51
    Southern 1261.58
    London 1263.66
    South East 1274.04
    South Wales 1279.63
    N Wales and Mersey 1286.55
    Southern Western 1297.61
    GB average 1256.241
GB average, inc VAT (at 5%) 1319.054

  • One rarely gets such a specific reply to one's questions.  Long may we maintain our position in the pecking order. It looks like we are c. £25 below the national average. However whether for the residents of (within) one particular region it is worth focusing on SC's is the point I was raising.

Just had a fairly lengthy email from greg@octopus, it sounds like they're really working for their customers, I can't imagine edf or eon sending an email like the one received this evening.

  • When is the cap on tracker due to be reviewed will if he April?
Any cap on Tracker and Agile tariffs is solely a matter for Octopus.
  • If that means that Tracker and Agile (and Go) are uncapped, what is the distinguishing feature compared with the capped tariffs?

Tracker, Agile and Go (etc.) are tariffs you choose, they aren't "deemed" tariffs that you are given if you make no other choice. Only deemed tariffs are capped by Ofgem.
