Octopus Energy reviews: Give your feedback

It seems pretty clear what has happened - someone has failed to input today's real price into the demo site, so it is using today's estimate, which is always a significant underestimate. It's no coincidence that it matches almost exactly the projection for the rest of the month (which we know has been detached from reality for some time now).Telegraph_Sam said:Yet on the individual "video" leccy screen (I forget how to copy it) it is clearly showing 12.6 p and 4.05 wholesale for here

Bubble successfully busted. I must get acquainted more with the Nordpool site. - how does one extract the retail Kwh prices from the data?
It will be interesting to see if the mistake is subsequently corrected. Either way as things stand there is no obvious alternative to Tracker for a non-smart meter consumer that does not fancy taking chances with Symbio, Neon, Avro & co, What group actions I have come across would not have provided an incentive to switch.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
I showed you how to do it many pages ago. The wholesale price in pence is the number you see on the nordpool site divided by 10. You then use the equation on the octopus tracker applet that you linked to to work it out (the equation is listed if you click the fx button on the bottom right of that octopus applet page near the pie chart.)Telegraph_Sam said:Bubble successfully busted. Or, much easier just go to the tariff page on the octopus website and its there for you to see.
Frankly customer service across the board is pretty poor look at all the threads about eon, eon next, British gas, sse, bulb, EDF etc and you'll see lots of problems. It's not just the cheap suppliers. But I think you've found your comfort zone with octopus so agree tracker is still prob sufficient for your needs given you don't want any if the cheaper smart and non smart alternatives. Just don't expect a sudden drop in prices!!
And even if it was the rate you suggested the symbio fixed rate was still cheaper at 13.1pkwh and 10p standing charge (unless you're a super high user)0 -

It only compares unfavourably to those who will do the things you won't.Every supplier lets down some of its customers, even Octopus. If you read their Twitter feed, you'll see regular complaints, some that have dragged on for months. Of course the vast majority of customers have no problems. I'd say Octopus is no better than average in phone and email support, but that's mitigated by a very good social media team. Growing pains no doubt, as their reputation was better.0

The latest price showing on the Nord Pool site is 73.41. Applying the conversion formula gives a result of 98.94 incl 5% VAT. Even dividing by a factor of 10 I am "out" by an order of magnitude. 73.41 is the wholesale price in £ per megawatt.
To make it pence per kw you divide by 10. So, 7.341p is the wholesale price.
Then to work out the price you pay (its different for each region, but for your region the formula is:
(W x 1.19) + 7.20
= (7.341 x 1.19) + 7.20
=15.94
Then add vat of 5%
= 15.94 * 1.05
=16.73p

Looks like the data input oddities are still there for a second day.Telegraph Sam

The developer responsible for scraping the data probably needs to fix something. I doubt they work weekends. The link to the Nord Pool data on the calculation page is also broken. The two may be related.Telegraph_Sam said:Looks like the data input oddities are still there for a second day.

I'm getting 16.7 p / kwh and 18.73 / day according to "All our tariffs".
I wonder if the glitches will be corrected retrospectively.Telegraph Sam
