How much are the houses you REALLY want?

I must be lucky, the house I live in is pretty much what I want and it cost me 150K. Anything it doesn't have at the moment is just decor and updating and I can do that over time without moving.
A swimming pool would be nice I suppose, but I'd need about 1.2 million for that round here, and for one of the more expensive local footballers to get sold to a foreign team and free up a mansion.0 -
I saw a house this morning that I'd like in about ten years time. Assuming it's worth the asking price, it would leave me with at least £100k in loose change.
I'd love to store it up for later, but I guess the owner wants shot of it now.
That's the trouble with houses; the ones you want are never available when you're in a position to buy them.
Perhaps if we could order houses, a bit like Christmas turkeys, but over a longer time span, we could all get our ducks in row years in advance.
(Sorry about the references to poultry. No animals were hurt or injured in the writing of this post.)0 -

What a chicken!, you should see a quack about that angst....0 -
£200k - £300k, well above my limit.
My current home is worth about £77k with a mortgage of £51k.
We can all dream tho!0 -
If I could have any house on the market right now, it would be this one: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-59439977.html
Unfortunately, even if I liquidated all my assets right now and totally maxed out my borrowing (neither of which I have any interest in doing), it would still be some 300% above my budget, in other words totally out of reach, soooo I think I'll just focus on doing up my little flat and enjoying it for what it is.0 -

Er, 2 million for a tiny terrace!?!?
Did you realise 2 million only gets you the middle bit of that property? And you have to walk up a flight of stairs to get from the kitchen to the living room, passing someone's bedroom on the way! And 2 flights of stairs to get to the master bedroom, you'd certainly be worn out by the time you got to bed! Why would anyone choose to live like that?!?Every generation blames the one before...

Yes I am aware of all those things, they don't bother me. Layouts can be changed, location not so much.
As for the size well, welcome to Brighton!0 -
Does it come with a sandy beach?
Smart pad though, if you don't mind all the things mobilesaver has already pointed out - plus that price tag!0 -
This is pretty much my dream home, right price, but wrong location for us. Manageable size, looks nice, enough space inside, nice gardens, good garage. There are loads of houses going up for sale in the southside of Glasgow, and a fair few around Bearsden (which offers very poor bang for buck) but not much in the surrounding areas that are slightly cheaper.
Fingers and toes crossed

Also, this one, truly stunning. Suitable location, too expensive! http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-59479415.html0 -
We are in the SE so the houses we really want are probably 3-4 times the price! Although currently feeling v. lucky that as FTB in our mid-twenties we are buying a 3 bed terrace rather than a 1-2 bed flat0
