i know we are a throw away society but bin a win 7 laptop because someone on £100+ per day can't be bothered/isn't capable is taking it to the extreme"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

good point. hope that people that don't want to share information never use online reviews of restaurents/products etc"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
I think you will find that those reviews have be added and written entirely voluntarily by the submitter.
Somewhat different from any information gathering activities by Microsoft, Google, other software vendors or for that matter HMG.
...and no every time I go out of my house I do not get 'caught' on CCTV - not many of them around in really rural UK.
Quite what an forensic inspection of my non-smart mobile would show I would be interested to know.

nokia by any chance? when you visit a restaurent and have location switched on google may ask you some questions about your experience to help others. last time i shared some photos from a restaurent they had over 5000 views. sharing information is not always a bad thing"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
Last night just before I shut my laptop down and following an update I had another example of a more aggressive microsoft.
A message came up saying following your request your computer will be updated on Sunday 15th May unless I click cancel upgade.
As I have never requested it so I clicked cancel - I wonder how long that lasts?
Have you tried uninstalling the windows update which installs W10? The following comes from a Which advice link on FB "To prevent any unwitting installations of Windows 10, the key lies in ensuring a certain update file isn’t on your computer. It’s called KB3035583, and it sneaks its way onto your machine as a ‘recommended update’"
I have just uninstalled it from mine for the 2nd time.0 -
I also don't have a W7 installation disk as my laptop didn't come with one.
This would allow easy rollback from Windows 10, but also helps recover from scenarios such as hard disk failure.0 -

Yes I have created a back up image on an external hard drive but I wasn't sure whether this would do the same as a W7 installation disk.0 -
Four times each now on my three Windows 7 pcs have I had to uninstall the KB3035583, which involves a restart.
I've just been on the Microscum facebook page and used every form of Anglo-Saxon expletive I could think of to express my unhappiness.
Microsh!te, this bullying has to stop. If ever there was a prime example of online bullying - this is it.
I have all sorts of business users getting lumbered with thing. They don't like change. They have software that is God knows what age, for specific tasks and machinery. They want things that just work, simply. Forcing this stuff on them is really not a good idea.0 -
If you are that upset with Microsoft I suggest you use one of the many alternate operating systems available for "PC" hardware. A W7 installation disk would allow you to 'clean install' Windows 7 from scratch, which could be useful in some scenarios.
But assuming your current configuration is working, if you wanted a way to get back to it then a backup image should do it.0
