Tuesday 10 May 2016. What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning all :)
Got up this morning to pouring rain :( Hope it will clear up later!
    So far I have:
Let dog out and fed him, he at least has gone back to bed now, after getting me out of mine :rotfl:
Emptied dishwasher while the kettle was heating up
HG rhubarb with breakfast instead of bought fruit
    Read news online
Checked ebay sales, nothing sold overnight unfortunately

    Plans for today:
    Check banks
    All HM meals
Need to buy some salad bits from the market this morning
Take duvet cover and pillow case set whose fabric OH and I have decided we don't like to the CS. It was reduced in the SM, so no great financial loss, but it is pretty, hardly used and freshly laundered, so hopefully it will make the charity a couple of pounds :)
Post a couple of items on FB selling page
    Tidy up
Bit of gardening if it stops raining - I have lavender plants to put in biggish pots that are hanging around the place unused, and some lettuces to plant out :)
Pick, chop and freeze some parsley and mint :)
Freeze chicken stock already made in SC, and take any little remaining bits of meat off the bones for pooch's tea :)

I am sure there is more, so will pop back later to update.
Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Morning all :hello:
Thanks for the start today Dawn. Hope the weather clears. No rain forecast here today which I'm really pleased about.
I'm quite uncomfortable with my sore leg - not just a groin strain because it's hurting on the outside of my leg as well. I'm ok once I'm up and about but stairs and getting on and off the toilet are hilarious :rotfl:
    Today's plans:
    check banking and PAD
 small top up shop after work
 pop to the vet to sign up for their monthly payment plan thing
 juggle finances as I've been a bit spendy already this month :o
    full teaching day
 mark a set of books
    try not to stress
    minimal housework
    meals from stores
 remember to order some cat litter whilst I'm on a spend day
 another early night as I'm physically and mentally broken at the moment - nothing serious, just utterly exhausted.
Right, time to get on with my day. See you all later :j

    Morning all,
Just kicking a quick list into the ring before I get cracking:
    *Water grenhouse veggies.
*Rain forecast all day so no gardening but will sow sweetcorn as that dropped of the list last week.
*Load washer for overnight laundry....tomorrow looks better day for pegging out.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
    *Batch cook dhal.
*Carry on my courtyard tart-up project.
*Turn a few bits of gifted craft stuff into writing paper/notelets.
    *Catch up with surveys.
*All free leisure activities today - library book, type up big family history project, maybe start watching 'Marcella' which we recorded.
*Put knitting payment in safe place until I've decided which 'pot' it's going into.
My best wishes to you all for a good day.

  • Morning all. Here's my list for today.

    - Input travel expenses x2 (didn't do this yesterday oops)
    - Peel potatoes for tea.
    - Walk to ice skating and back.
    - Sort through underwear and sock drawer.
    - Sort through floordrobe and wardrobe and get rid of anything I don't want and maybe take it to a cash per kg type place for a bit of pocket money. As they say, every little helps.

current debt as of 11/7/16: £1000.
all I want is to live a simple but pleasurable lifestyle and be happy.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Can I join in? I have spent 15 years clearing my debt but now need a routine so that I can save as I have no assets and need to keep to a really tight budget. I find this thread really quite comforting.
Never again will the wolf get so close to my door

    Morning all

    Love the phrase floorrobe.

All quiet outside. No disasters yet.
Ds left for market to sell cattle and we have had heavy rain and roads are greasy. Will be glad when they are there safely. Beasts look gorgeous, wish I was selling them, they are. Joy to look at.
Should be a nsd. Will be chaos in work. Last few days of government forms.
    Have s good day all.
Today I will not buy anything on eBugs.

    Good Morning All,

It's been raining here since about 4.30pm yesterday and is showing no sign of stopping. Still very mild though.

    - school run - DONE
    - must try and eat breakfast - DONE
    - entertain DD and DS2 - DONE
    - house hunt - NOTHING AGAIN!
    - lunch and nursery run - DONE
    - school run and dinner from stores
    - clean and hoover
    - early night as feel exhausted

Have managed to check finances for the month, something I plan to do on a daily/weekly basis. Paid phone bill. Paid council tax already which is due on the 1st June. Not leaving myself short for bills as I always seem to so whatever is left will have to be better managed. Transferred a little amount to childrens ISAs, something I again plan to make sure I do every month.

Hope you are all well, hugs to anyone feeling down, tired and stressed x

    Morning everyone
    Thanks for the start Dawn
Hope your leg gets better soon CCL
Welcome Jagraf I find this thread very helpful for keeping me on the frugal path
Maria I hope your cattle go for top dollar

Another WFH day for me today. My bank balance is not looking forward to going back to majority office days! I'm saving a fortune in fuel! (It's a 30 mile drive to work).
Today I will finish sorting out the tax credit form and post it off.
Will see if I can spend my lunch hour going through our household budget and trim down any bills EG energy, etc.

Hope you all have a fab Tuesday xx
    New total: £24,006 :(
    I will do this.
