The garage blew my engine up.....

The car had passed the MOT before the engine blew, why then were they driving it, why didnt I get it back? I didnt give them permission to drive the car so where did the 370 miles come from.....why did it take a few weeks to deal with the minor details on the MOT (wiper blades, break light and ABS light), they didnt quote me for any repairs? Why did they continue driving it when the top hose came off and they lost water?
I realise the servo (at least wasnt their fault which is why I kept ir out of the cuurent bill. I need answers which they will not give me....0 -

incompetant !!!!!!.
what happened is that they were tinkering around with the car and needed to test drive. They put theings back in a hurry and forgot to put a hose in. The water pump proceeds to empty the car out of coolant and overheated the engine.
No hose just comes out, a host clamp is a pita to remove without the right tools. Very firm and snug.0 -

Were you there, then? That's a very confident assessment of what definitely happened. No hose just comes out, a host clamp is a pita to remove without the right tools. Very firm and snug.
Ever heard of 'rust'? Bottom hose clamps on the Peugeot Boxer I was working on a few weeks back fell apart in my hand.0 -

Why didn't you try to stop them?
FWIW, I've had hoses let go several times, without having worked on or otherwise disturbed them immediately beforehand. I've also had hoses split and burst. When that happens, the cooling system empties QUICKLY, and if the engine's up to full working temp at the time, you don't have much of a chance to do anything about it, especially in an automatic, where you can't just chuck it into neutral from speed without risk of starving the box of lubricant. Add in a whole bunch of electronics and power-assistance, and there are risks in turning the engine off before you come to a rest.0 -
Hmmmm the methanic said they were bringing the car back from having the diagnostics done and it blew as they didnt know the hose had come off? I dont understand 1) the car states 'water coolant low' IF there isnt sufficient water in the system....why didnt they stop and check? 2) IF they were coming back from having the diagnostics sorted HOW could they have MOT'd it.......if it had passed the MOT WHY did it need the diagnostics .sorting. They did 370 miles in the car whilst it was in their care.....without my permission...surely this is illegal?0

Just out of interest, what's a Jag S type worth nowadays?
I've seen some at under a grand0 -
Cost of the car is irrelevant...I paid 5k for 'her' 5 years ago with only 30k on the clock......I look after it.......the mileage still is very low.......and I would trade it for the world.0
