Lol, op, are you a ftb who has only rented before?
Just mow it yourself if it offends you so much. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
We had exactly this problem when we lived on a cul de sac and had a shared area which hadn't been adopted by the council, except that it wasn't a problem, because everyone took turns in cutting it. There wasn't even a discussion about it, because everyone just knew it had to be done and got on with it. If you won't do it, or can't because of a lack of storage space for a mower, then just get a gardener in and ask other neighbours if they want to contribute (voluntarily of course). Depending on area it'll probably cost less than £20/mow.0

TBH, I wouldn't waste the breath on offering. I'd just do it.
BTW, Alter ego, a goat won't be any use for keeping grass trimmed. You want a sheep.
Perhaps they only suggested a goat as they make lovely pets that take ones mind off vegetation problems ?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
A cow could be good too. Get a little urban farm going as a selling point.0

Ah MSE forums, where grass-cutting queries and freeholder responsibility turn into farmyard animal discussions...0

If the weeds are 5 ft tall you could make a maze: fun for all the kids (or even the adult goats..). Or you could do like they do on the back of white vans and graffito "clean me", or even cut out the design "Persimmon Homes stink" with the mower or make a vegetable bed and plant a few potatoes or squat or write to MSE or...
Lots of exciting things really.0
