This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x
Now light, sun shining, dry underfoot, I’ll put washing on the line shortly.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit, but will wake him shortly to get ready for school.
Lunch/dinner last night was a mixture of micro burgers for the boys, DH had chicken slices, new potatoes, salad and coleslaw/pasta salad. I had a bowl of salad. Tonight will be stir fry.
We went to the hospital yesterday morning and were there for 9.30am and was able to relieve immediate family to go home to get some rest/sleep, they had had an awful night. DH and myself were with ill person on our own for quite a while yesterday morning, and after a while both DH and myself noticed a difference in ill person’s breathing and sometimes it was almost stopping, then re-starting – we asked one of the nurses to come in to have a look and she stood at the end of the bed and watched, we asked her advice as to whether she felt we should phone the immediate family to advise them bearing in mind 1 of them lives an 1 hr 20 mins away from the hospital, her advice was to ring to get them in, so we rang and then left the choice of what they did to them, but we feel satisfied that we did the right thing to give them that choice, some came over and some didn’t, but we stayed until middle of the afternoon and then left, just after we left MIL and FIL left, when I rang to tell MIL about the change in ill person’s condition she huffed and puffed, so I told her it was up to her whether she wanted to go to the hospital, I was just letting her know what the nurse had advised. They did come over, but I’m told that they left not long after we did, she told me she had told ill person that she would be there for them when they died and I feel fairly sure they weren’t as they left after us – they may have gone back but I'm under the impression they didn't. Ill person passed away at 7.30pm last night. We are relieved that ill person is no longer suffering – we’ve spent a lot of time at the hospital since Thursday last week and could see that they needed to go to end the suffering. We’ve heard already that some discontent has started within the family – ugh, we will continue to support those within the immediate family that need it.
Back to work today, not sure how it will be, hoping quite busy so I can keep occupied.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning chums,I'm up early today as its the start of my long sad journey to France and I have several things to do before I set off. The phone has already rung this morning from an old friend of mine ,bless her.
I went to DDs yesterday afternoon after compiling an album of photos to take with me.The boys were lovely and kept me busy and occupied and when I left the youngest Mikey gave me a huge hug and said 'think of all the fun you have had with him in your life Granny' wise words from an eleven year old.
Fingers crossed the next few days will go peacefully and the journey uneventful.
I will be back soon no doubt , thank you all for your kind wishes

Thanks for starting us off NMLC, I've been awake since I woke at 2.30 baking hot and try as I might sleep had gone for good so I'm up and on my second cuppa! Sticky here this morning and very still so I'm expecting some rumbles of thunder and some rain, at least that will be good for the garden which will need the water after such a hot day yesterday. Going to do a fridge clear this morning and make use of things that need to be used and I'm going to make us a roasted butternut, pepper and lentil salad with a nice tangy tahini dressing for a couple of days lunches as I have a squash that needs to be used. A little bit of ironing to do too, I couldn't believe how quickly the washing dried yesterday, less than 2 hours from machine to ironing basket, LOVE SUMMER!!! If the weather isn't too wet I'll go to the centre on the bus for some groceries I ran us down last week as we were away this weekend and it's all looking a bit bleak!!!
Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.
JACKIE hope journeys and everything else go smoothly for you all, chin up lovey xxx.0

            Morning all
The men were up and out the door at 4 this morning and I hardly slept at all. Hubby didn't settle and I was cold.
Not much to do in the house today but I'm sure I can find something to do.
Onwards and forwards
Have a great day allThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Good morning, thank you nmic for starting us off.
It has been wonderful weekend, but it looks overcast at the moment, I hope it brightens up, like Lyn I love summer.
Himself wanted to do some gardening over the weekend, so he strimmed th lawn in the front, which is only small and then some of the back yesterday. We have a very long back garden so at the moment this has to be done in stages. I laboured for him, not that he asked me to, because I didn't want him to overdo it to start with. He managed very well, although of course he was tired, but no difficulty with breathing or anything like that.
Today my sister and BIL are coming to see us, as it is my birthday tomorrow, so looking forward to seeing them.
I have a nail appointment tomorrow, Wednesday we need to visit the bank, Thursday I need to have blood taken again, but in the evening meeting the "girls" for a meal. I am looking forward to catching up with their news, because I had to cancel last time as Himself was so poorly.
Dumpling you are doing so well, go girl.
Lyn your weekend sounds wonderful, we also had difficulty sleeping last night because of the heat
Have a good day all and I hope the sun shines on you

            Morning All
And what a beautiful day it is too. I've watered the plants and the washing is on the line.
Went for a bike ride yesterday with some friends and managed to catch the sun on my arms, all ok this morning. Also spent quite a lot of time reading a book (just chick lit but I enjoyed it) on my new sun lounger.
JackieO - Safe journey, Mikey has it exactly right.
Mrs LW - Sounds like you had a wonderful few weeks away.
Off to work today, our P7s are off on an outdoor activity week, so glad the weather looks to be good for them.
Take care. XX0

I think Scampi enjoyed yesterday's morning walk more than any other he's ever had. He couldn't wait to go. I usually pick up his lead then call him over to sit, yesterday he saw what I was doing and was sat at my feet when I turned around
I've crocheted a few rows ripple-stylee, I'm going to scan it today and use it as a background on address labels. The labels will be stuck to strung tags. This will make fabulous quirky business cards. That's the plan anyway - it could very well turn out to be a messy disaster
I've hung one load of washing out and have put a second load in the machine. I want to vacuum and dust before we go out for a walk, I like to come back to a clean house, lol. Accounts day today, mostly on the laptop but there's a bit of paperwork too. The houseplants need a good drink, I'm terrible at remembering to water them. I'm going to have to add it to my job rota or they'll be dead in no time, lol.

Good morning everyone. And what an absolutely beautiful morning it is too. The sea is bright blue, the sky is almost the same and Jura is looking particularly lovely.
Sorry to hear your news nmlc, at least your relative is now at rest and their suffering is over.
JackieO - safe journey. I'm sure the photo album will be greatly appreciated.
Yesterday was fairly peaceful apart from planting out stuff in the garden. I'm not sure they'll survive but am hoping.
I feel like jumping in the car and going off somewhere but have got an invigilation session tomorrow so may go away after that. Just somewhere up the west coast as the forecast for the week is great.
I really hope everyone is having the great weather - happy Monday.0
