The London Mint Office SCAM

helpppp
I received a coin that I don't want from The London Mint Office (LMO) in April. On the same day, I tried to call LMO (Payment line 0800 037 4321; Customer Care 0330 024 1001 or 0845 120 3086), but none of them answer my call.
The invoice did not say where can it be return it to. The FAQ page in their website has nothing on it. The return page in their website saying no longer provide On-line return label and need to call their customer care 0845 120 3086 for arrange the return. However, there is no one pick up my call, so I decided to post back them straight away with signed post to make sure they have received the item.
On the next day, LMO replied my email and saying that they will monitor my account with the tracking number that I provided.
Two days later, LMO signed the post. This should mean everything is settle already.
However, 15 days later, LMO issued an overdue payment letter of the returned post. So I sent two emails in total to explain the whole situation and request a confirmation of no overdue payment in my account. I also did provide 'proof of delivery', 'the receipt of the post', 'the parcel of the returned item'. I also post an official complain letter about this issue and including all evidences of the returned good was already posted back to them and someone in their office did sign and receive the item. I have provided a suitable period of time for them to make a proper reply to me. If they don't, I will assume that is a confirmation that no overdue payment in my account.
However, I did not receive any confirmation from them but receiving another overdue payment letter from LMO. I really consider LMO is a fraud company which only asks customers for money but ignoring all my emails, letter and calls.
I bought two coins in total from LMO. And one of them is saying will post a further coin once a month. Here comes the problem. During purchase the order, I did type my bank details Online, but LMO still request me to provide card details or cheque for the payment. The invoice include continue or stop the next coin and request the payment. I did check that my bank statements which LMO really not yet deduct the cost of the coin. So I post the cheque with the envelope provided by LMO. This is where the unwanted good sent to me at the first place.

Trick about LMO Mailing address - LMO Processing Centre PO BOX 89, PORTH, CF40 9BJ
There are two addresses in LMO website page, LMO Mailing address and LMO Office address.
All return item need to be return in 14 days, as LMO refuse to pick up the call, I did not wait their return arrangement but post the returned good to them. I posted it to their Office address with signed.
After 14 days, they then just post an overdue payment letter to you enclose their terms of conditions at the back of the letter. In the back of the overdue payment letter, there is a terms of conditions, point 7.2. states that all returned item should be post back to LMO mailing address.
In fact, the page of terms of conditions in LMO website, they did hide condition 7.1 and 7.2.
So they hide the hide the information, refuse to listen the call, just to mislead customers of their process of return good.
The address - Mailing Address on the envelope that I used to post the cheque:
The back of the envelope state "under no circumstance should this envelope and/ or address be used for the return of a product".
Therefore, I decided to post back to their Office address instead of their mailing address.
If I really send the faulty item back to PO BOX 89, LMO can claim that they never receive the item cause there will be no one "sign" for the post.

I can see that there are forums saying that LMO is a SCAM and did receive solicitor letter from LMO claiming that didn't contact with them. As I think, if I don't pay, their next step will be send me a solicitor letter. I have all evidences that I did post the returned good to them. So if LMO really sues me to the court, it should be a win for me.
However, I really have no time to deal with this fraud company!
Can the government do something about LMO? I don't want anyone fall into this SCAM Trap any more!

It may be useful to report this to the Citizen's Advice national Consumer Helpline on 0345 404 0506.
Perhaps also a chat with on 0300 123 2040?
The use of a premium rate 0845 number for returns is also very questionable.0 -

As to what can you do...
1) Read your agreement.
2) Read the post immediately above yours.0 -
I had a similar problem. They sent me a coin that I didn't order so I emailed them. Unfortunately they didn't even respond and took the amount (£29.95) from my account so I raised a card dispute with my bank. The bank recovered the money but later the London Mint sent an invoice demanding the original amount plus a card dispute charge of almost £30. This totalled almost £60 and I am ignoring them.
I sent an email to the Citizens Advice citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/get-more-help/report-to-trading-standards/ who forwarded my problem to Trading Standards. Trading Standards wrote back and informed me that I should keep unsolicited goods and treat them as if they are a gift. They also advised that I cancel my card with the bank and request a new card so the company cannot debit more money from my account.
In short, you should raise a card dispute with your bank to recover the money and inform the London Mint that you do not need to pay for unsolicited goods.

Hope this helps.0 -

If you didn't order a coin, how did they manage to debit your account? Where did they get the card detail from?0 -

Yet another case of someone not reading what they signed up for, I'm afraid. They have so many 'offers' that may appear cheap, but their T&Cs let them send more coins unless you cancel in time. Personally I've never used them as I think they don't offer any value for money and most of what they sell is crap0
