That's called running a business.
But my view is why should i let my prospective tenants get stung when i could help.them out and get it done for 3o elsewhere.0 -
They will no doubt sting for TA too when i can download for free off gov. Website0

It's not about getting stung, it's about charging an amount that's accepted by the market.
You're running a business, don't pass an opportunity to charge for your work.
At the moment you seem to be spending a lot of time to 'help' prospective tenants save money. Who's paying for that time?0 -
Good point.....so u think i should just let them pay HouseSimple and be done with it0

Hmmm. why did you ask for advice and then ignore everyone who says you might want to do more pay over the odds for a simple check for CCJ's, bankruptcies etc which leaves plenty of room for taking on a tenant who can't manage their finances.
But obviously if you are prepared to hand over a property without checking the tenant out properly.., I guess that's up to you. Just don't know why you bothered asking any questions.0 -
You are already charging for your time with the rent. Profiteering will only discourage good tenants.
Alternative view to screw everyone for every penny.0 -
Like if being the cheapest attracted the best tenants... Quite the opposite.0

There is being cheap and then there is just adding any other unnecessary charges.
Plenty of landlords attract and keep good tenants on the basis that the landlord is not completely ripping them off.0 -
I was talking about doing the checks myself and paying for it nyself as i know credit checks can be done cheaper than what House simple will.charge tenant.
Would not neglect the checks at all. Just looking out for tenant so they dont get ripped off bug time. Seems easy enough to do a credit check for 30 quid elsewhere. 75 seems extortianate.0 -
And of HouseSiimple want to charge for a TA as well.i feel i could do that as well for free and do my tenants a favour. They may repay tge favour by being good tenants0
