Hi,
We sold the wifes car via Gumtree on Monday about 6pm ( so couldn't use the DVLA change of ownership site ) and filled the on tuesday morning. I provided the details of the buyer inc email and got an email back saying that Im no longer the registered keeper. The car had been declared SORN for a couple of weeks now.
The site couldn't find the address given on google but the postcode is valid and in same city as me.
Wife got a letter through today saying the car run a red light at 6.08pm on Monday. I have a receipt signed by the buyer but I didn't put a time of sale down on it, just the date.
Advice please? The DVLA website said not to send in a V5 so I still have this in my possession. Was gonna keep it for reference as it wasn't needed.
Worried now :-(

you fill the NIP in giving the name and address that you took and forwarded to the DVLA , also save any emails and txt messages relating to the sale .
failure to name the other person will cause an excess of points and a fine to you
have you checked if the car has been re taxed or now has insurance?Save a Rachael

hasn't been retaxed yet according to the web, also showing change of owners.0
-
as said keep all information you have safe
it would appear its been bought as a pool car seeing as details appear wrong and theyve red lighted a traffic light
can you remember the car they came in or do you or your neighbours have cctv of anything
youve done your best dont panic.......yet0 -
If the car was Sold Monday the date of sale should have been Mondays date.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

And?
Without a current keeper where do you think the enquiry should start?0 -
I put Mondays date on the website.0

How much did you sell the car for? If it's more than a couple of hundred it's not a "pool" car (by that I assume he means a car registered to a fake address and run without insurance/tax until it gets impounded).
Was the address invalid? Might it be a new build? If you're unsure, it might be worth vising your local police station as they'll probably want to know about the car.0 -
Car was going to be scrapped so sold spares or repairs through gumtree for£75.0

you have done everything correct (by the DVLA) just fill in the forms for the police and save any adverts or correspondence you had as backup.
the car will resurface soon and the miscreant will be caught.Save a Rachael

The car may resurface but I doubt the miscreant will.0
