probably a daft question... but what do you do with dirty dishcloths/tea towels?

Ok, obviously wash them! :rotfl:but I mean't before then... In the interest of hygiene (baby on the way!) I have decided that I should make sure I start a clean tea towel and dish cloth every day, but I just can't figure out what to do with them before wash-day! I don't have a dirty laundry hamper downstairs, so I've been leaving them in the washing machine but they are making it smell.
What do other people do? Thanks!
Wash them. If they're dry they won't smell while they're waiting to be washed."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

tea-towels I chuck in the wash basket with the dirty laundry
Dish cloths (microfibre cloths) I soak in bleachy water in the sink and they get rinsed through while I use them to wipe worksurfaces/table/units/childrens faces/highchair etc. they go in the washing machine when I do a red wash maybe every 2-3 daysish.
I always rinse dishcloths thoroughly before and after use and hang them over a tap so if they aren't used for a few hours they dry.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I don't tend to wash a lot on 60C. I just throw them in with whatever colours or whites i'm doing at that time. But I always iron them and give them a good blast of steam, so if there are bugs left then there aren't after being blitzed with the Polti.
I do so much washing mine never have a chance to get sour. I use at least 2 dishtowels a day, and use a clean dishcloth every day too.

I change our dish clothes, T towel and hand towel every couple of days or so. The dish cloth and T towel I leave to dry on the radiator, then put in washing basket. Hand towel is usually dry anyway so I put in basket.
Then everything gets washed together in the WM.0 -
Tea towels and oven gloves go in the wash with towels and such most often but with anything really. No dish cloths here. Washing up is done by brush (if scrubbing), hands or DW.
Cleaning cloths are used for the job and thrown - as we have 7 cats in the house I regard it as a necessity. I have tried re washing them but am never happy they are really clean.
Dusters - we use the D*son or one of those long static duster things which we then also vacuum.Put the kettle on.0
