After washing them in the machine although they are then clean the stains remain, and it looks quite unsightly. So as a single male I need advice on how to remove the stains, and what to use. Or I offer an open invitation to marriage. ThanksLow Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

As a fellow male I can offer no better advice than to throw them out and buy new ones. Not only does this save on the laundry costs, it also means that you do not need to worry about such matters as to whether your tea towels look unsightly after washing.
Alas, I shall have to humbly decline your proposal as my wife may get a bit upset if I saunter off with another bloke. Cheers anyway. No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
Rather than use the extra energy of having to put my tea towels on a hot wash, I soak mine first, if the stains are bad I soak with some of the Vanish Oxi Action (white) and then they go in the machine, they don't Always come out perfect but much better than just putting them in the machine with dried on stains. The Vanish oxi is more often than not on offer somewhere so I'd never buy it at full price which is , I think, quite expensive.

You could try soaking them in a mixture of household bleach & water , then back in the machine for a hot wash .
Sadly , I too will have to decline your proposal , but will leave your name on file just in case one day my better half runs off with a busty blonde.:)0 -
I combine all the advice into one..... give them a soak in bleach, then toss into the machine of a boil wash. If they don't come out clean and it bothers you, use them as cleaning rags and buy a few new towels.
However, buy darker ones in block colours - I have a blue one that has outlasted all it's packet bretheren because you can't see the stains!
Good luck
P.S. I'm female, single and so marriage would be an option, but I can't bring myself to break the chain of random refusals. You have too many tea towels, and my tea towels would be too jealous of their sparkly cleanliness for a relationship to work. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I second to mandi's method. Soak in Bleach water then wash!Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

I just bung a squirt of bleach in the ball instead of washing liquid ... on a 40 wash it seems to do the trick nicely.wading through the treacle of life!

I have this problem too. Especially when using tea towles to take casseroles etc out of the oven. I do have oven gloves but they are uncomfortable and seem never to be within arms reach when i need to access the hot oven. Tomato/pasta sauce staining is the worst!
Re: advice given so far....if using bleach on none-all-white tea towels it presumably turns them white? What do we do if we like the colour of the tea towels but just don't want the staining?Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
