Sending phone to Smart TV

Samsung UE40H6400 Smart
just unpacking Gromecaste dongle (can almost feel the frustration coming !)
Will try power via USB port first
I have Google Cast on the phone. Are you saying download AllCast as well ?0 -
Grrrrrr. Installed OK, but only some of the apps seem to have Cast (Ior, I just can't find/access it !). Dont think I shall be using this much0

FYI Chromecast screen cast feature is unavailable on phones with v4.4.2 or lower. Seems most J5s ship with 5.1 at the mo but worth checking if you've been putting any updates off.

If phone casts youtube, I dont see why it doesnt cast everything...but OK.
The phone, as you've demonstrated, is perfectly capable. The app needs to support it, and you've found YouTube so far.The lead I have needs power.
That's because you bought a 10ft one. You need to plug the micro USB end into the phone, the HDMI end into the TV, and the USB end into a USB power supply. For testing, plug it into your phone charger. You did see this in the description, didn't you? We weren't talking about 10ft leads until you bought that one.The USB should 'power' the lead - yes ??
Not necessarily. Use your phone charger first. The HDD one on the TV should definitely provide ENOUGH power, but maybe it's not powered up all the time. It might only power up when you select 'USB' or 'Media' on the TV, so might not be powered up when on HDMI2.
Chromecast. Again, it's better if apps support it, but if you want to look at your phone screen (and sound) on your TV, you can.
I can't test right now, but if I go into the Chromecast (It's called Google Cast now) app on my phone, hit the menu button top left (beside where it says Google Cast), I can press 'Cast screen/audio' - hit this and it should give you what you want.0 -

I have binned the lead and bought Ghromecast.
Doing above, it says "now casting this screen to Chromecast" and it does, but that is all it shows. THAT screen, nothing else.
Surely each app. ITVhub. I player, etc, should be capable of being opened directly, and then select the TV/casting button at top of screen and then what is on phone should appear on TV. I HAVE managed to do this, but no all the time, and not on all TV channels/apps. Seems almost random !0 -
no ! no ! Its all perfect now !!
Open chromecast first, menu, select cast, then open ANYTHING on phone and FINE - its all there.
Am using the USB rather than the power lead - again FINE.
Thank you all SO much. I love it when things work/finally.
Again thanks X0 -

but ... should I have got one f these instead of Chromecast. It seems to do the same thing, ie sends phone to TV AND gives you 500 channels (bin sky).
or.... (I always find out after)
just been speaking to son. His friend has a box (£30), that connects to your phone line/internet, that delivers ALL channels incl. foreign, all films "incl. those not released yet", etc.
Sounds like a combination of magic box and putlocker ! but he can't remember the name !!
IS there such a box - I want one0 -
No, it's illegal.0
