lost my original thread on this so starting again...

Samsung J5 phone (does support chromecast), to Samsung TV.

I can use Smartview on phone/TV to see pictures/videos (sent to me)/music, but phone does not support 'Mirroring' (TV does), to watch whatever is on the phone (say a film playing), onto the TV.

ALMILLAR suggested one of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201168188489
Plug it into phone/TV (HDMI2), select HDMI2 whilel a film is playing, and ... nothing.
Am I doing something wrong ?

"You are also plugging it into the mains - right ?"

No. There is a mini/micro port in the bit that goes into the TV, but no mains adapter. Or must I get a lead that goes from the mini port witha mains plug on the other end ?/ Surely this would have come with the lead if I should. Wary of connecting the TV (again), to the mains ?!

I see it in the picture/description. It should have come with the lead but didn't. Didn't realise it needed mains power as well.....

    "How to use the product
Connect the 11pin/5pin Micro USB(MHL) end of cable into your device.
Connect the HDMI end of the cable to the HDMI port on your TV.
Connect the micro USB end to a 5V/1A (at least) power adapter. We recommend to use your ORIGINAL power charger for your device.

Obviously I have a charger for the phone, but it is just a plug, not pwer adapter.
Any ideas please. Where to buy this flipping adapter

Chromecast plugs in to HDMI port and uses either USB or a mains adaptor to power .
Adaptor comes in the box with the Chromecast .

Player whatever you are showing on the phone is showing in some form of player .

If you connect your Chromecast to TV and download from Play store and set up the Chromecast app on phone . It finds the Chromecast dongle attached to the TV .
You then open a video player that is Chromecast enabled and hit the lille cat icon in the player and it streams through the dongle to the TV .

You should have got a power supply with the cable .

I did complain, as it WAS in the picture ! but as he says "use your own charger".
I'm not going to mess about finding an adapter. The correct way to go was to get a Chromecast Dongle.... yes ?
    One of these

    but which one ?

Maplins are all very expensive (though easy to return). The ebay ones will ? do the job ??

Or this (different/better ?) (I wonder how long the power leads are)

Explanations of how this works all say "just hit the CAST button on the app. you are on". Have just looked on Iplayer and cannot find one.

Hmmm. just had a fiddle with phone and tv and have managed to pair/cast the phone to the tv and watch YouTube. This, without a chromecast dongle or a mirroring facility....

I know I should just accept it as a 'plus', but wonder how ?
