To tell you the truth, when I received the call I was walking along a busy main road, and couldn't hear some it, because it was an unknown number on my mobile, I just thought, here we go with another PPI reclaim call, didn't catch the name of the guy I spoke with or the company name, but he said they handle the competition's for the ITV shows and The Gadget Show, and as they all go the same handling company, I thought that this seems genuine, he said I had been drawn as the winner in a draw, and he needed my home address to send me a letter advising me, as all the get from my entry is my name and a telephone number, which is what I do with my postal entries.
I thought a letter would be forthcoming quite quickly, and although I'm not at home to check my mail today, that's a week now, so getting concerned and hoping it's not some sort of spam, but they guy sounded really genuine, and did say the company but I missed it, totally unexpected.

This afternoon I've phoned both ITV and Channel 5, as these are the two that the chap mentioned they deal with, ITV advised that their calls come from an open telephone number which is seen on caller display, so they didn't think it was them. Channel 5 took my details and checked with their competition's department and came back to advise that I'm not a winner with them either.
Very disappointed and quite angry to think someone is calling around people in this way, and more being taken in with it.

Sorry folks for the false hope of a big win.

Just to add that they knew I entered these and of course the method of entry so quite disturbing.

I have not had a win with C5 but Channel 4, for Deal or No Deal at least, outsourced winner contact to a PR company (the contact knew nothing about the actual programme) and ITV were "in-house".

The ones who called you may deal with the stuff they said, the mail handlers in Derby deal with entries from loads of different competitions not just itv and c5 ones so it doesn't mean the call was a duff.


I think this is the mail handling company but I don't know if they actually contact any winners

Thanks for advising of that, i'm almost consigned to get nothing now, however, if I get a cheque or winning letter in the post I'll be quick to post it up.:(

In my experience (not comping, just in general) a lot of companies aren't always sure what's going on with other areas... so I'm tempted to veer to the side of hope, despite the calls. This said, I'm sorry for the disappointment and everything this is causing... I really feel for you.

I'll keep fingers and toes crossed that this isn't quite the end of the story, and that a happy one is on the way. And if not, like fzz33, I'm going to say that I reckon a win'll come your way soon to make up for this.

I guess i'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself to be honest, I always enter for the fun of it, well, and something to do for an hour in the evenings, or a rainy weekend day and I'll work my way through all the comp pages and see if I missed anything.
I'll try to keep my hopes up slightly in the hope I get my mail and there is a surprise winning letter, or even better, a big juicy cheque to make the bank manager love me again, lol.

If you took the call on your mobile you should have the number they called from in your call log - have you tried ringing it and see if you could speak to someone? You've nothing to lose!
