Good Morning everyone, thank you all for your kind messages of support, I am still a bit shell-shocked to be honest. I had been planning to go down to Poitiers on Friday to see him in hospital.
His fight is over now God rest him, and another person has been claimed by that disgusting discease Cancer.
My youngest DD and I were talking last night as she wouldn't let me stay at home alone ,and we said that if only all the billions that were spent on things to kill our fellow human beings were spent on trying to save lives instead of taking them what a wonderful world we would have.
My brother wasn't rich or famous he didn't have his 'celebrity' splashed across the media but to his friends and family he was a special kind of superstar.
He was born a tiny scrap of a thing during an air raid in east London in 1941. The puny one of twins whom the Dr. put to one side thinking he had gone, and tried to save the bigger twin. The bigger one died and my big brother sqeaked and the Dr. said 'good heavens its still alive' He weighed in at 1 lb 12 ozs and was the length of my Dad's hand.
He had a problem with his blood and was a 'blue baby' so didn't have the finest start in life. My late Mum was determined that Davey was going to survive, and his bed was on top of a blanket wrapped hot water bottle in a cardboard shoe box for the first three months of his life.Very few children were born in hospital in those days anyway as soldiers had first call on hospital beds.
Well Davey fought like a true little terrier, and grew and survived and when I arrived a couple of years later was handy for my Mum in helping look after me and would walk me up and down the garden so mum could get some rest I apparently was bless with a very hearty set of lungs that I put to good use
I grew up with Davey never far from my side, and where he went I would trail after. We were siblings and best friends all of my life. Over the years I have worked in several of his various business's and used to keep his books and accounts when he had at different times his garage,a couple of video shops a night club,,a green grocers and a taxi firm. Bright as a button and extremely charming he was our little 'Del-boy' He would start a business up build it into a really growing concern then get fed up and sell it and start something totally different. At various times in his life he had owned a Lotus Elan ,a sea going boat, took flying lessons and if there was a sport that was a bit risky he had a go at that as well.
He was a good looking guy who loved the ladies (he had three wives along the way) plus a few other ladiesbut they all liked him even when they parted they said he was just a bit of a rascal when it came to women. Last night I had to tell his last ex-wife about what happened and she was devastated and they had been divorced since 1989 and she was in bits.
He has three grown up children and 9 grandchildrn plus his 'adopted' family of his partner Sandra in France and we are all mourning the loss of ,as one of the chaps, said 'the good guys' He was a handsome scallywag who would give you the shirt of his back if you wanted it and was generous to a fault.
When my late OH died in 2003 Davey was on a beach in Spain that morning by the evening he arrived at my eldest DDs in Kent still in his shorts and tee shirts and flip flops .He literally just jumped on the first plane home to be with me.He stayed with me and helped organise all the formalities and paperwork,(even had to go out a buy a suit for the funeral) as all his clothes were back in Spain.
He was a very special person and one I have been proud to call my brother and very best friend. He is at rest now, and out of pain and it is us his family who now are shouldering his pain through loss, but we will get through it as we always do in our family by pulling together and helping each other out .He always had such an impact on people that my youngest DD, who was naturally upset with the news was sent home by her boss in the afternoon to look after me.
He had only met Davey twice but on his way home last night he stopped at my house to offer his condolences to us both which I thought was so kind of him.
In July my DD Tess and I are running (walking in my case ) in the Race for Life and Davey's name will be on the top of our list of people we have lost to cancer. You wear a front and back card when you are in the race with who you are running for .Her company have already donated to our cause and we hope to beat our record of last year.
This is my obituary to my lovely big brother David George Buchanan Bearn one of the really good guys 12 February 1941-3 May 2016
Much missed by us all

Morning everyone,
Dry, bright and sunny here, we are set for a lovely day.
Was home just before 2.30 yesterday so had a late lunch and then did some jobs, cleaned kitchen etc and before I knew it was 6pm and the girls were hinting for their evening walk. We were both really tired so in bed by just after 9.30.
My DOH did make some delicious cheese muffins yesterday, it's a recipe off a website, Elana Amsterdam think is the name, who follows the paleo diet. They are made with almond flour, cheese and eggs, simple but lovely and make a nice change for breakfast.
Well done on the weight loss Dumpling, that is a terrific start and a good boost to your confidence would imagine.
Fingers crossed for you Speky, glad the interview went well.
Thinking of you Jackie, have no doubt your lovely family will take care of you.
Have a good day everyone, take care folks xx0 -
What a beautiful and moving tribute to your Davey, thank you for sharing your memories x0

A beautiful obituary Jackie, your love for Davey shone through the words and gave me, a stranger to him, a real essence of the man he was. Thank you for sharing that with us xx0

JACKIE your obituary was beautiful. I couldn't read it without shedding some tears. What a special man he sounded. RIP Davey xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Morning all.
Jackie0. The world has lost one of its finest...RIP Davey.
Well despite leaving a bin liner full of clean bedding at home, the men are still working away. They always take their own freshly laundered bedding as it smells like home apparently. I dunno how they missed it as it was plonked right on top of the out of town bags but anyway things are good.
I'm still in bed, blinds and window open and I can hear the birds singing in the trees.
Today is a going to be a good day.
Onwards and forwards

Good morning everyone, an earlier post from me for a change. DS is still in bed so I will have a bit of peace before the day starts.
Jackie what a lovely tribute to your Davey. I loved reading it and really visualised your childhood with him. I actually think you should write a book. I for one would read it. I do hope that you are ok. Such a sad time for you at the moment. Hugs to you xx
dumpling what a fab first weeks loss. That is brilliant :T
Today I intend taking DS for a walk in the woods. We do this a lot because it seems to alleviate his anxiety. We will take our bird books and sit on logs watching the wild life. I also have a book on trees so will try to recognise the different ones. I will do a simple packed lunch and have that there. It's definitely the simple things in life that are the best. All this depending on the weather staying dry.
Not enough washing to do a wash . Dinner I think will be chicken , rice and salad, so I need to get the meat out of the freezer for that. Off for toast and tea before DS wakes. He struggles with sleep which is why he is still in bed. DD has gone off to college with her bandaged hand. Her tutor has allowed her to type rather than write today, so that should help somewhat.
Have a lovely day everyone. Hugs to those that need one. I will be thinking of you and Davey, Jackie xxx“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one, especially Jackie, what a lovely tribute to your beloved brother. He is at peace now.
OH off fir his INR, it's coffee day at the little chapel later, so off for a chat and a cuppa.
Workmen coming this afternoon to replace the sewing room window. When I cleaned all the window frames and doors last year I did not get round to that one, it was disgusting, I cleared years of gunk off it, sprayed the mechanism with WD 40, so it's all clean now. I have also discovered that tha side window does not fit properly, which is why we get a gale blowing through it. Hope they can sort that too.
Time to get myself out of bed and clothes on........0
