O/S Daily Thread for Wednesday 4th May

Hard_Up_Hester

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Hugs to JackieO.
There I was, lost in the land of nod, I probably would have slept through until 6 after a long a tiring day yesterday, when I was awoken by much screaming and wailing.
My beloved had cramp, I'm assuming it was in his leg as the screaming and wailing was accompanied by a very energetic war dance around the bed!
Not much chance of any more sleep for me, but I will commit murder if I stay in bed listening to him snoring peacefully for much longer!
I'm going to go and sort out my baking trays before I go to work.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning all and thank you Hester for starting us off.
JackieO, I was not here last night but read through to catch up just now. I am so sorry to read of Davey's death. You painted a picture of such a lovely, kind and special person. So very sad. With love from the other Jackie.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off x
JackieO - so sorry to hear your sad news x
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, bright blue sky, and sunshine, warming up nicely. I have a load of washing ready to go out on the line, I'll do that shortly.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/salad. I remembered to get the beef out to defrost, so I'll be putting that with some veg and stock into the slow cooker shortly, and then we'll have a casserole for tonight, I'm working extra hours this afternoon, so makes organising a meal after work easier. I'll do potatoes and veg with it, and I'll make some dumplings to go on the top for the last bit of cooking time.
DS2's said the exam was ok. We'll see.
Work yesterday was absolute manic, it was continous especially in the morning, the machines couldn't cope with the amount of money being put in them and one broke down a couple of times and supervisor had to keep taking it apart. The queue went from the machines (which are at the very back of the office all the way through the shop to the entrance doors at the front and it was like that from when we opened the doors to nearly lunchtime, all the customers were moaning and groaning, but we did the best we could.) I was shattered when I get home but good to have such a busy day as it makes the day pass quicker and occupies my mind other than thinking of ill person being so poorly at hospital. Today will be busy but not as much so we hope, also just to make our jobs more difficult we spent the day without proper access to the parts of the computer that we need for our job, so expecting a lot of people to come back today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Looks like rain out there! Not enough of any kind of washing to make a load, maybe this evening.
Planted out some peas and beans last night, not sure if they will survive but they were too big for their pots in the conservatory. Had a good tidy up too and repotted a little christmas tree that has been outside for a couple of years - poor thing was bursting out of its pot.
Really busy at work yesterday, we had no computers for the last 3 days before the weekend so lots to catch up on. Hoping for a quieter day today. I did make a huge mistake but hoping it can be fixed today.
Hugs to all, especially JackieO. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
I'm another one who was woken up by cramp in my right leg. The muscle is still twitching which is quite unpleasant, I have to confess to swearing under my breath as it is such a nasty pain.
My hubby has just made me a lovely cup of tea so I think he has forgiven me for waking him up this morning. I've checked the bank accounts, emailed my weigh in results to a challenge I'm doing on another board and now I'm waiting for the girls to get up so I can make sure they all have breakfast.
I went to my meeting yesterday and it was a bit easier now I know what to expect. I stood on the scales with some trepidation but it was ok as I had lost 5.5lbs. I have found it fairly easy but I am very aware it is early days.
I will be making the meatballs today as I didn't get round to it yesterday. I also have a doctor's appointment this afternoon so I will be going out again today. Get me, gallivanting all over the place :rotfl:.
Thinking of you JackieO, such a sad loss for you.
Well done Speky on having a good interview, fingers crossed you get the job.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
I don't usually post but well done dumpling, I was thinking of you yesterday and virtual fingers were crossed
also well done spiky
and JackieO i'm so sorry0 -
Morning all and thanks for starting HESTER. Yesterday somehow didn't live up to promise and we kept having showers which weren't forecast! Today is supposed to be better and the sun is shining!
Busy day ahead. Thursday's food shop is to do today as Mr TA has his monthly injection in Leeds tomorrow. I have a script to pick up first. I also want to go to B & Q for some of their lavender plants. DD got some and they look lovely and healthy (usually their plants are left unwatered and look half dead!!) Then a detour for more bird supplies! They keep me poor!
The two youngest DGDs are here for tea, sleepover and school run tomorrow. The middle one arriving after ballet and tap and the youngest after Rainbows. Not christened their tea yet so must have a freezer rummage next. Eldest DGD is at her dad's again - more maths homework! I'm sure it wasn't so difficult when I was 11.
It's the monthly carvery and wine night tonight with the "girls" so looking forward to a laugh and a catch up of gossip! Mr TA will be in charge of getting the DGDs to bed, though I'll get them all ready before I go out.
I did a wardrobe "swap" yesterday. In readiness for the warm weather that's (allegedly) coming at the weekend! Winter clothes are now in the back wardrobe and have been replaced with spring and summer clothes! Can't wait to be back in t shirts and sandals!
Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) to all in need. especially JACKIE. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Well done dumpling! That's brilliant news and such great motivation for you.
It's dry outside, and bright too. The sun is making the sea sparkle and Jura looks a light brown. Not sure it's going to stay so lovely but it's great to wake up to. There was rain for a lot of yesterday.
I drove down to the wee garden centre next to the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar looking for a particular plant. No luck there. On the way home I went into another wee garden centre, no luck there. I'll have to drive down to the large nursery at Barrhead on Saturday.
My trip today will be to the hill farm where my carpenter lives to collect the glove / scarf / hat box he's made for my hall. It's got a shoe rack at the bottom and the box on top. I got fed up with scarves and hats being either upstairs or scattered around the place. Once I get it painted it'll be perfect.
Today is online banking day, there's monies to move around and I have to research a new ISA for Mum as her rate drops at the end of June.
Camelot - I'm sure you can sort out your mistake. There's always a way round things.
JackieO - sending you my thoughts, hope you find peace soon.
Right, I may have to get up and face the world.
Happy Wednesday everyone.0 -

Well done dumpling :T
Miss tru is home, she had a great time but she's exhaustedSomehow, all of them forgot about the time difference and didn't account for the time it would take to travel from the airport to home when booking the time off work so they hadn't booked yesterday off, hope no-one's in trouble, lol.
Quiet day here, I'll just be pottering about. I've got the paint and brushes out, I'm not in the mood to use them though, lol. So the cupboard shelves may or may not be painted today. My blanket is finished, I want to get started on another one so I'll search through pictures later and see what catches my eye.
