Thanks everyone for all the help, i have been on the phone to the grant office who said that i had to find the builder and that there would be lots of paper work but it would move as quickly as we made it, so i'm gonna be busy.
I told DD about her getting a bedroom and her wee face lit up and i asked her what colour would she like to paint it (me thinking pink as she's really girly) and she said " i'd really want rainbows, castles and princess", so i think i better learn how to paint.
So now i have to do up and send in a tenanty agreement and wait for ot to send in her paper work so hopefully a few weeks from now we should be making good head way with the paperwork, and i know a builder who is brillant and adores DD because of what she has come through.
I hope this thread help's someone else. I know how heart breaking it is being turned down when you really need help but all i can say is keep trying because you never know what can happen.Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough. And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much. But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0 -
i think you have been exceptional in your circumstances , we were turned down twice dispite having a two bed house with 3 girls who all have probs, 2 of them statemented, one on high rate dla the other low and ot admitting we were overcrowded, they wouldn't fund to build an extra bedroom or a little room downstairs, they just wanted to move us out of our home.it really does get my back up sometimes that these applications can sometimes be down to your post code
well done in your case

thanks for your kind words.
we did it ourselves in the end. we remortgaged, using the youngest's dla to fund the extra mortgage cost.It really was a desperate situation and we needed to do something fast. but instead of just one extra room we now have 2 and a bigger downstairs, but now i am in fight with the council as they won't apply the dissabillity reduction of extra rooms for the children and move us down a band on council tax, because we had the whole house extended, only by 5ft width but!!! we also added a garage arghhhh:eek:
don't you just get fed up sometimes.0 -
Just another update, grants officer was out yesterday to have a look round the house, he was brilliant and explained everything to us, we have raising damp (really bad) through out the house (bedrooms are the worst) and he has put it down as unfit to live in.
He also said we needed fans in the bathroom and kitchen and that the kitchen is completely done. So plan of action is that the house will be damp proofed and the plaster will be taking off the wall just over a meter and then they will put some wire in and connect it to the mains on a low voltage and this should stop the damp. We will need to move out while all the work is being done and the building of DD's room so it's gonna be really crazy but well worth it. We should have all paperwork in 3 weeks.Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough. And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much. But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0
