Brexit vote

No ONE knows what will happen? Surely that is the point?
Do you think the EU and other countries will welcome and expedite trade agreements? The US wont as they said, as they are currently negotiating their EU deal and therefore wont risk those negotiations.
Do you think multinationals who are based here because we are in the EU will move and take jobs with them?
I know the markets wont like it.
imagine if scotland had voted yes- and as they based their plans on the price of oil and it plummeted as we have seen. Wouldnt have been a pretty picture.
I know Obama is a lame duck but still quite odd he read out that piece scripted by Cameron's team.
Would have been far more sensible to have kept quiet.0 -
Your logic is overwhelmingly convincing. Not.bigfreddiel wrote: »

They "subtly tell us they think we should accept a pay rise"? !!!!!!.If the politicians and top business leaders dont know,i sure as hell dont,i work for a company thats a big exporter and they dont seem too concerned as far as i can see,put it this way they try and subtly tell us they think we should accept a pay rise, but weve not had one mention of brexit??
He's a lot less of a lame duck than any of us on this forum.I know Obama is a lame duck0 -

How we could ever remotely think about ditching the ECHR I just dont know. We were instrumental in setting it up after the second world war, leaving it would be a dark day for this country.bigfreddiel wrote: »As you say, it could have an impact on the state pension, on the other hand maybe it won't have an effect.
In reality no one knows what may happen. Not even those that think they know or have the facts.
One thing is certain not one member of the general public has any facts that bear any relation to the truth. No politician is going to give us the facts, because they themselves probably don't have any facts either. That makes any discussion on BREXIT, IN OR OUT, a complete waste of time.
Everyone will just vote on some myth that they like or don't like about the EU.
The only way to vote is EXIT of course, and other voting options are available.

So if no-one knows what will happen; whether things will be better or worse, then how is voting Exit a sensible course of action?
Life in the EU seems reasonably pleasant at the moment. I'm not massively worried about kettles and toasters not being powerful enough or other trivia that people come out with. It doesn't cost that much to be a member but I suppose the biggest point is that Brexiters seem to have this possibly slight unrealistic expectation, that everything will be nirvana after we leave and that we will all be richer, immigration will be stopped, yet everyone will still want to trade with us and we can make our own laws and not have anyone meddling in our affairs again.

Which is exactly why the US sees those negotiations as a priority (as they are proving difficult), and wont risk or delay them to negotiate with the UK.0 -

Sometimes, youve just got to go with your gut feeling, and mine is id like to be out of the eu and take the consequences good or bad.
I dont beleive a word that comes out of any politicians mouth, they will tell you anything to get what they want.0 -

The Referendum (if it supported leaving) would do just that with all the implications involved. We would in effect be burning our bridges. But EXIT is not the only option.
If we do leave and it turns out that it were the wrong decision we could reapply but not on the same terms as it is mandatory for new joiners to join the Euro. So the choice to REMAIN is a very important one, particularly if we have doubts.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

If you want to be taken seriously at least try not to contradict your self in the same sentence!Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
