I've had very little dairy or wheat this week. Cheese this evening, milk in coffee about twice this week and no bread or flour since the bagel (with added sugar:undecided) last week.
I might build a little on this and see how I go.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I've definitely upped my dairy - in fact it's part of trying to up my protein and calcium intake generally.
It now thought that we should eat at least 1g of protein per kg body weight on a daily basis and, in fact, it doesn't hurt to eat more than that if you want/need. So I've dropped my carbs and upped my protein, fruit and veggies. Actually starting to feel better for it, don't seem to get hungry in the evenings and have lost most of the 'muffin top'.
I find I don't really miss sugar at all now - even the occasional craving seems to have evaporated.
I think that's been my problem lately - over-reliance on carbs.
*Resolves to have a protein-based first meal of the day*. Too much protein can be harsh on the kidneys but for me unlikely to be a problem as I'm a veggie.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Today was a busy day with a lot of driving and hanging about.
We live 30 miles from the nearest McDonalds and historically if we have an early start for something, we get a pancake and sausage breakfast on our way.
This morning we skipped it because both the pancakes and the sausage in maccy d's have added sugar (dextrose and glucose syrup in the sausage patty_pale_), and the pancake syrup is just glucose syrup, sugar and water with colour.
I'm not happy, we really enjoyed that little tradition.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

It's been ok thus far this weekend. Yesterday I made a "cake" using a scone recipe, adding 2 chopped semi-stewed apples, copious sultanas, and the zest and juice of an orange. Not very sweet, just right.
I've also encountered something a little strange - my appetite seems to have come back. Where I haven't been prepared when I'm out and about, I've bought a sandwich and that has covered my cravings nicely.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Monday morning again... this quitting sugar thing is so much easier on work days. I made a batch of chicken soup yesterday so soup or salad for lunches; dinners from tomorrow will be mackerel; piri piri chicken, leftover frittata (meat free) and chilli beef. Snacks will be fruit, berries and maybe some dairy free yogurt (sugar free).
We're eating out tonight, so interesting to see what sugar free choices will be available.
I made pizza for the others yesterday, but in a weak effort at avoiding flour, I didn't have it. I made frittata for me, but added some of the pizza chorizo without thinking, then later on pulled the packaging from the bin - sure enough, there is added dextrose in the chorizo. Why????I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I've been busy all day, so not had much time to think about sugar let alone miss it
Managed to eat 3 light (think one slice of toast plus something on top) meals between 5.30am and now, which is totally unlike me. That's it for the day, apart from hot tea later this evening whilst I read the NOF report. I can't believe that it is advocating eating a lot of fat, it's more likely to be challenging carbohydrate over-consumption, and you have to eat something to replace it so in all likelihood fat intakes will increase. It's fibre that should also go up, but let's see what Dr Aseem says.
I agree the national guideline are wrong in this respect. It's excess carbohydrate consumption that is killing us. In my case, sugarValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Lovely dinner out - mussels to start followed by a smoked salmon salad. I don't think there was any sugar anywhere, but tbh I didn't ask.
I couldn't fit in dessert (the main was huge) but had a lovely coffee while the others had chocolate cake and deep filled apple pies with chocolate, vanilla and pistachio ice-creams.
Just as well I couldn't fit any more in as there was no sugar-free option for dessert and no cheeseboard.
We are getting up at 5am tomorrow and away until afternoon, so if I have time in the morning I'll pack a salad, otherwise I might just have fruit and nuts.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I made an effort to eat breakfast this morning, some mozzarella cheese. Weirdly, it tasted sweet!
Are my tastebuds finally adapting?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Mozzarella for breakfast? Just mozzarella?? Wouldn't be my first choice, I don't think:D. There is a certain sweetness to milk though, isn't there? Maybe that's what you're tasting.
Yesterday was a long day - up at 5am, on the road by 6, back home by 6pm.
I had some of my daughter's salt and vinegar rice cakes (they are really nasty but sort of addictive) and a fruit pot from Tesco for lunch and mackerel and salad for dinner. Lots of fruit sugars but nothing else.
Today will be chicken soup for lunch and more mackerel and salad for dinner. Fruit/berries for snacks.
I made up another batch of the homemade nutella last weekend - just added a teaspoon of cocoa powder and a couple of teaspoons of maple syrup. It was much better. Nothing like nutella really but creamy, chocolate-flavoured and very rich. There is a version which uses melted sugar-free chocolate instead of cocoa - I might try that next. I keep forgetting to get the chocolate though.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I've just sliced and frozen some bananas to make banana ice-cream by just blitzing the frozen banana slices in the food processor until they turn creamy. It looks good - I'll try it over the weekend as a treat.
Today was soup and salad for lunch, piri piri chicken with rice and veg for dinner. I may have berries later, not feeling it at the moment.
I do like these long evenings. I've still got lots of time to get in a good long walk... now just to get up and go... any minute now...I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.
