I purchased a Lenovo mobile phone for my daughters birthday,
from Focalprice.( No idea were abouts in the world they are)
The phone turned out to be for the Asian market (mostly in Japanese)
Focalprice have refused to accept a return instead offering me a
5% discount. No use to me as the phone is unusable here.
Paypal are of no help.
I dont know were to go from here. Any advise would be most welcome.

What model is it? As I'm surprised an Android phone (if it is one) won't let you install Google.
Have you seen any similar for sale on eBay UK, if so, you maybe able to sell it on?0 -

I suspect what you think is Japanese is actually Chinese, Focalprice are a Chinese retailer. The Google Play store will not (easily) install on Chinese phones but can be done: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=18742850
