Santander online banking

I'm just wondering if anyone else has problems logging into santander online, not through am app

My elderly mum has had such a struggle over past few months, I don't live near and have been writing it off as her senior Ness! But have seen it first hand today

She has an ancient old windows xp machine, was using Firefox, but it was grinding to a halt. Mum was having issues with her ID not being recognised, then locking her out. I assume at some point some techie talked her though installing Rapport as it was on there

I've reset the Pc to Feb 1st, uninstalled Firefox and put chrome on. Again santander wouldn't recognise the I'd, do we filled in the "forgotten I'd" form, it just bounces me back to login screen saying I haven't got cookies enabled. I've checked, and they are! I've uninstalled Rapport now, but can't get santander to work.

We will call them again tomorrow, but just wondering if this is a common thing at all. It's driving us mad!

I've found to be a bit sluggish over the last few days.

I have a real nagging feeling it's something to do with Rapport and the ancient XP computer. But I know it's not just her now I've been here to see it myself.

I use Win 7 and Firefox, 123 online works just fine for me, never had the slightest problem.

I've had no problems with logging into the site. I once downloaded Rapport and it sent my computer into a real meltdown. I installed it straight away and haven't had any problems since, although that was for the NatWest site. It does sound like your Mum's computer is too old to cope with modern life, no offence ;)

None taken, sometimes she's a bit old to cope with modern life too! Today we "upgraded" their mobile phones, and to save hours and hours of grief teaching her to smartphone, we got them a Doro phone with actual buttons on each. Bliss!

Well I have a laptop which dates back to pre 2009 with XP.

I have just logged in OK to the website without being lobbed off!

It could be more of a problem with programs you already have loaded then anything that's been laid over that.

Also I don't have Rapport loaded as It has been known to give problems. If you google it you will find many negative reports about it.

To everybody else, don't knock XP, it's not a bad OS when you consider Vista!!!! :o

Have you fully removed Rapport ? The "normal" methods do not always completely remove it and often leave some bits and pieces running in the background http://www.computing.net/answers/security/trying-to-eliminate-trusteer-rapport-from-my-computer/39389.html

Santander site has been problematic for me lately. Frequently hangs on log in and on a couple of occasions has timed out. This is on a fully up to date desktop running Win 10 and Firefox 46. All other banking sites are running normally.

That Rapport software is very likely to be the problem. Banks should be banned from 'selling' it to people as something they should seriously consider using. I downloaded it to my laptop at one point as I was fed up of having the website suggest I download it every time I logged on, so I thought, why not. Big mistake. My laptop kept freezing and in the end I had to remove it, which sorted the problem immediately. Plus, when I did have it on there, I regularly was told when I tried to log on that the system didn't recognise the device I was using and had to take me through some extra security. Rubbish. I'd had the laptop a good three-four years at that point!

I don't use Chrome but Santander appears to work fine with Firefox. Remove Rapport and the problem should be solved. Just make sure your mam has some good antivirus/antispyware software on there to keep her safe.
