taking photos of bluebells is quite tricky
it is to do with the way that the digital camera records the image that you see with your eye, shooting in bright but overcast conditions can have more pleasing results over bright sunlight
also if you are using a DSLR camera you mentioned a canon EOS then shoot your picture in RAW format and then you can use a photo editing software to scroll through the white balance settings available to you and also you can use the same software to adjust colour/saturation0 -
further to what i said here are a few examples, the picture was taken this morning using a canon eos camera set to record raw image files

original shot as it came out of the camera with the camera set to auto white balance, and picture style set to auto and the camera has made the bluebells look purple
the same shot adjusted in the free canon image editing software i have changed the white balance to daylight and the picture style changed to landscape and it has brought the blue colour back a bit
the last shot the white balance is still set to daylight and the picture style still set to landscape, and i have slightly tweaked levels and saturation0 -
Thank you very much. Must admit that I'm not very good with the EOS camera, I tend to use my Lumix one rather than hubby's EOS as it's much easier to use with the one lens lol!
All the pics are lovely, I think I like the last one best.0 -
here is one more from this morning

I dont know what camera you have but do you know if it has the abilitiy to do HDR pictures ?
this is a feature where the camera takes three pictures at slightly different exposure and combines them in camera to make one image with a high dynamic range and is a feature that is common on the newer compact/bridge cameras0 -
Hi force ten
Thank you for the reply.
My camera is fairly old but not ancient, it's a Lumix FZ45. Had a quick look and there is High Dynamic and there is 1/3 on the screen as well.
Is there any sound to say 3 pics have been taken? It just seemed normal to me.
Will have to try and find the instruction book!0 -

not sure if the FZ45 can do in camera HDR, and when HDR is set you will hear three clicks and then a delay when the camera combines the images
FZ1000/youtube/Video
that youtube video shows how to set HDR on the FZ1000 and i would imagine the menu is similar to your camera0 -
Lovely bluebells, force ten. Thank you for sharing your pictures.0

This is half a mile from my house and I drive past it every morning. Photos of the bluebells never come out as impressive as they look with the naked eye though.

You're right, photos never really do them justice do they? (If only there was a way to capture their scent, too!)
That looks like a lovely woodland. I notice you have a couple of bat species living there too - love watching them flitting around at dusk.0 -
Look forward to seeing them, Gers. Lucky you, to have the bluebells still to look forward to where you are; ours here will be coming to an end for another year before too much longer

My garden bluebells are well past their best now. Here's a pic of my nearest wood. Photo taken with phone so I hope it's OK. This is just one corner of the wood, it covers about four times the size shown in this shot.
