Absolutely beautiful, the colour has come out really well. When I take pictures of our bluebells the colour seems to lighten.

Thank you. I hoped you might see this thread - you mentioned on a different thread recently having grown up at Biggin Hill and said how lovely the bluebell woods there had been, so I wondered if my pictures looked similar to the woods you remember?

The perfume from all of these flowers was amazing too, when I was taking the photographs. Absolutely gorgeous.

When you took your photos, was it a dull day by any chance? Mine were taken when it was sunny and I wondered if this might explain why the colours look the way they do?

    Hi jrtfan

Mine were taken in bright sunshine too but no shade at all. I tried with my camera and my hubbies and both were more or less the same. Hubbies camera is a very good one Canon EOS so I was hoping for something better.

I wonder if the shade has anything to do with it?

That's a thought, Waterlily24, it might do mightn't it? My camera has a lens hood clipped on to the front, I'm not knowledgeable about photography at all but I did find something online about these lens hoods on this link:

    http://improvephotography.com/1101/lens-hood-purpose-dslr/

It says on there (in the section Should I Use A Lens Hood On My Camera?) that light can sometimes bounce into the camera lens from around the sides, which can cause a significant reduction in the contrast and colour of the picture image.

Could you create an area of shade to stand in when you take a picture so that you're shooting out from the shade into the sunshine?

Thank you, an old camera of mine did have a lens hood. With this one I do find it hard to see what I'm taking a picture of when the sun is out. I think you are probably right.

Might see if I can get one but the camera is quite old now. The old one doesn't fit.

Managed to get a camera hood from ebay, hopefully it'll arrive safely.

A picture taken in the shade, it looks a better colour than the other ones.

There are two bluebell woods near me and the flowers are just beginning to peek out from the greenery. Once they're in full bloom I'll post a pic or two.

Wow, that's made a huge difference in the colour hasn't it? They look absolutely stunning! Thank you for posting your picture.

Good news that you were able to find a lens hood, too. Hope you'll be pleased with it when it arrives.

Look forward to seeing them, Gers. Lucky you, to have the bluebells still to look forward to where you are; ours here will be coming to an end for another year before too much longer :(
