Thanks, a cheque it is then :)

You can tranfer the money electronically from your bank

    Wot's a cheque;)

    BTW
I was told the ISA doesn't show up in their on-line banking anyway.

My ISA shows up in their online banking, and I can top it up using an electronic transfer to the sort code and account number they gave me (and displayed in my online banking).

How do you get online access? Do you need to apply separately or will an (accepted) ISA application automatically provide you with online access?

I got about a mile of bumph from them after applying for a fixed term ISA but there's nothing in there about online access, and they didn't send me any online access details, either. Going to call them tomorrow but info from account holders would be appreciated.

They also have in no way confirmed yet that I made a £1,000 deposit.

I rang them and they said fixed term ISAs don't show in online banking. They will be confirming any deposits and transfers-in by letter.

I can't see whether I can open the 120 Day Notice ISA by transferring ISA funds from elsewhere only. It looks like I have to open it first with minimum £250, then add the transferring funds.

    Anyone know offhand?
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

Yes you can fund with a transfer from elsewhere only, as that is how I did it. From memory I do not think it was completely obvious what needed to filled in to achieve that so I rang them up and they talked me through the process.

Ah, notice cash ISAs do show up though.

Interestingly I phoned this morning, as the April previous actual profit rate has not yet appeared on their web site, and was told that they were due to change their rates this month. I was not told which accounts though.

Would assume it's the 120 Notice account as this has been at a rate for over 2 years now
Al Rayan Bank (formerly Islamic Bank of Britain) [120 Days' Notice] ISA - 2.00%
Rate guarantee? No. Rate effective from: 17/01/2014.

I deposited money and transferred funds over a week ago and have not received any paperwork to confirm this :o
  • Can't believe I missed this thread, have a 120 day notice ISA with them, when I opened it, I got all communication within 24 hours. I've found them to be very efficient and professional. The profit rate always seems to be correct given the rate indicated, and it's never been not paid.

Well I'm not impressed so far.

I opened the ISA fixed term with an initial deposit of £1K

I also then set in motion a transfer of a previous ISA

Got a letter confirming account was open with £1K

Then get a computer generated "letter" stating the account had only the transfer amount in it. So the £1k was "missing"

Sorted it out on the phone, seems the £1k was on hold somewhere....
and the opening letter was a template they send out so in fact it did not confirm it was open.

Not impressed that everything is either paper or telephone based and I cannot see my ISA amount.

Now have to wait for a letter to stated what's in the ISA.
