Interesting thread, so many travel-related dreams! I'm intrigued about the number of people who want to fly business class long-haul...save your air points for the upgrade,
    Thanks for the tip

My spine was found to be so ****ed that I had to give up work for good & all the stress & depression caused me to lose weight.
Will pray for your good and speedy recovery.

Only way to learn to surf well is to do it - loads!!!
I've been trying to improve my surfing for a while now but lack of money makes getting off to the coast mucho difficult.

This winter will be different though - I'm going to try and get away most weekends.

I wouldn't have thought of doing the day skipper courses at night school. I'm a bit confused as to a couple of things though... Never heard of a "night skipper" course - are they RYA qualifications?
Also, I assume they only cover the land based theory - how do you go about the practical side of things like skippering short passages, boat handling, steering, sail handling and lookout duties (all part of the RYA Day Skipper course)?

Interested to hear about how this actually works as it might be a really good way for me to get started on some formal training and learning to handle bigger boats (I learned to sail dingies in a Mirror when I was about 12 and sailed a Wayfarer fairly regularly from 16 up until I was about 18)

Hope you read this and can give a bit of input. :)

P.S. - If I'm typing anything more than a quick response, I usually type it up in a word processor (I use openoffice.org which free and, I think, better than the latest Microsoft Office, which I really am not keen on) and then copy/paste it in here - much harder to make the mistakes that lose your post that way. :)

Not all of these are once in a lifetime things, but they are things I can't realistically do at the moment
    1) move to NZ. Will be doing this this year, if things go to plan:j
    2) Get some books I want to complete a set, but are really rare so go for £60 a pop or more
    3) Fly somewhere business or first class. With my ds's and OH.
    4) Be able to go into a clothes shop and buy a new wardrobe of clothes without worrying.
    5) Just for once shop for food in M&S!
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

    I would love to
    - be happy, confdent and no longer need anti-depressants
    - pay off my loan and mortgage
    - lots of travel to some of the places mentioned already - go back to Thailand, and go to Macchu Pichu, Safari in Africa, India, more of Asia... all over the place really!! :o Would love to be able to spend a month or 2 every year just travelling :rotfl:
    - hopefully meet, fall in love with and settle down with and have a child or 2 with a lovely man :o

I've managed to do 2 of my childhood dreams tho :T
    - swimming with dolphins (in NZ) - one of the best things I have ever done! Swimming with wild dolphins was amazing, funny and very humbling and you were very aware that they were choosing to be there and interact with you (not being fed or anything to encourage them to stay) and that they were free to leave at any time. They swam around with us for about an hour. That said I think they may just have been laughing at our singing :rotfl: :rotfl: (we were encouraged to sing to try and get their attention - not very easy wearing a snorkel and mask!!) :rotfl:
    - went to Australia - used to save my pocket money as a kid for this!! :o I loved it!!
    Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

  • I've achieved my once in a life time dream - my baby girl - had given up on having a baby after 8 years of treatment only for it to happen naturally.

My new dream is for my DD to have a brother or sister in a couple of years.

My travel dream is St Petersburg in the winter.

Take my DD to visit Santa in Lapland when she is big enough.

Clear my debts to achieve the above
Proud to be dealing with my debts
    DD Katie born April 2007!
3 years 9 months and proud of it
    dreams do come true (eventually!)

  • What a great thread! Has really made me think;

    1. Have the book i have been writing for 6 years published
    2. go to NYC with best friend - something that may be happening at xmas
    3. Host Christmas dinner for all my family - again happening at xmas
4.Cruise down the nile, imagining i am in the 1920's and seeing the sights. Walking through the pyramids and the cairo museum.
    5.Have a child
    6. Drive around/live in america
    7. Work in the marketing dept of DisneyWorld - was lucky enough to go there last year and was just SO impressed with the company.

I started a 'things to do before I die' list when I was young, still have it and fish it out once in a while, been ages since I added something new to it. Some were small, some big, a fair few are crossed off... will get it out tonight for a look I think.

My biggest achievement was the birth of my daughter, naturally and at home. Some thing I hope to repeat with baby no. 2 on the way!

Buy a boat and spend my days sailing wherever the mood took me, not anywhere particulary hot and glam but the hebrides and NW scotland would be fine.
Also to be slim again and debt free - hopefully can do both of those fairly soon though.
