My total stash (not including hair styling products, nail varnish, make-up or perfumes and body sprays) - 232!

These are the items that have more than 10:

    Shower gels - 39
    Body Lotions/butters - 31
    Hand Creams - 25
    Face creams - 17
Face masks (sachets and tubes) - 16
    Shampoos - 11
    Conditioners - 10

I'm aiming to use up any product in small packaging to quickly add to my total. I'm also focusing more on those products above to reduce. When I totaled all this up, I was actually really surprised that it would add up to that much even though I can see where it all is. The shower gel is so annoyingly hard to use up - even the mini ones take longer than I imagine.

Well that's the reality check I need to curb more impulse buying.

  • Maybe you could post that on the inventory thread too, Lucia?? :)

  • I agree Sam4000 that reposting your list without your permission was incredibly rude! I've sometimes seen posts, sig lines or videos that made me wonder, but I would never consider even mentioning them in a recognisable way. Ugh! Some people have zero manners or thought for others' feelings.

The inventory idea is optional and, of course, the idea IS to be supportive and to help people make a success of cutting down as, all too often, good intentions go astray and increases happen where decreases were wanted. Quite a lot of YouTubers have made videos of this type and are finding them very helpful. The 'embarrassment and humiliation' of oneself is, of course, tongue in cheek, not serious. Anyway, there's always going to be someone with more..... :p

At the end of the day, one joins in whichever threads one wants and passes up on the rest. I'm not expecting huge participation and it mayn't even really get off the ground as some won't want to, some will, but won't want/remember/find the time to count and post etc etc, but there was interest shown, so I kept my word and created the thread. It's optional whether one joins in or not.

    :)

    One UU this morning:

Burts bees poison ivy mini soap- WNBA I got this out as I hoped it'd help calm the itching from some fly bites I've got on my arms (my work is in the middle of nowhere and I seem to attract them!), it didn't really do much and it smelled horrid! Plus the water was murky brown and I felt like I was washing myself in dirt, yuck. This is actually for poison ivy and I got it in a burts bees bundle but I doubt I'll come into contact with poison ivy :p so would not re purchase, glad it's gone! Can replace it with something nicer now, will raid the stash later...

Just come off 6 overnight shifts and now on a weeks annual leave, off to cinema tonight and then Blackpool on Saturday. Looking forward to my own bed tonight. It's a 7 day working week next week which is going to feel like the longest week ever, and 6 out of 7 are overnight shifts, so I'm going to make the most of this week if I can!

I got home from work 2 hours ago and my nails have already been painted :D I'm not allowed to wear nail polish for work so it's a novelty! Just used some technic ones I recieved in a set for Christmas, they dried quickly and are lovely colours so I'm happy with them. They will probably be chipped by tomorrow, but then I seem to chip them no matter what brand I use. I've got on a dark mauve colour with a purple glittery top coat :)

Just out of the shower and had another UU which brings my body lotion total down to 30 (!). I've also started a new shower gel from the stash, a Ted Baker mini, so have added it to my PP list.

    UU
Zoella Creamy Madly Dreamy Body Lotion 100ml - WMBA - I loved the smell of this and also the consistency which wasn't too thick and not watery. The packaging was great as I managed to squeeze most of the product out. I got this in the January sales in a reduced gift set. I would consider purchasing it again but only if reduced as I've used cheaper lotions which work as well as this one.

    My updated PP list
    ARU Borage Cream 30ml
Baylis & Harding Sweet Mandarin and Grapefruit Bath Soak Salts 250g
Beyonce Heat Rush Body Lotion 75ml
Boots Vitamin E Night Cream 50ml
Burt's Bees Honey & Grapeseed Hand Cream 20g
Creightons Mango & Papaya Balance Bath & Shower 500ml
Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Cleanser 200ml
Givenchy Amarige Mariage Eau de Parfum 1ml sample (x5)
Montagne Jeunesse Candyfloss Scrub Face Mask 15g
Nip+Fab Yoga Blend Hand Cream 50ml
    S&G Heel Genius 50ml
S&G The Daily Smooth Body Butter 50ml
Ted Baker Cate Eau de Toilette 50ml
    Ted Baker Body Wash 50ml

    Hi ladies,

I had to TA a product this morning which must fall into the pink candle category. I had a tube of JLo Glow Sexybody body lotion which was a gorgeous colour however I only ever use it when the sun comes out here and I'm pale and interesting and need some umph. Usually I tan easily so don't use it when I go away. So I pulled it out today, applied it to my legs and realised it has gone off as it started to ball up and roll off which it has never done before. I did cut open the tube and attempt to put some on my arms too however it did the same. I do have a full tube of the S&G self tan that came with my OOTW kit so will use this next (if the weather holds up!!).
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Those YouTubers do get odd comments. I have seen ones where the YouTuber has said "I am making this video because I realised I have 100 products in my hoard, I am so ashamed of my shopping habit and I am aiming to live a less consumerist life". And then the comments are full of people saying, "You have too many products! You are a shallow shopaholic!" Errr, yes, she actually already said that about herself, did you not listen to what she said...

I have a UU - Aveeno Cream. I WBA, although I think the texture is slightly unpleasant compared to the lotion.

Yesterday I added two different beauty boxes to my basket on Latest in Beauty. I got as far as the checkout then accidentally clicked on order history and saw I haven't bought anything from there since June 2015 which is when I started this challenge! So order abandoned and maybe I'll treat myself to just the one box when I reach the full year!!

    Few UUs.
    9. Sanex Dermo Sensitive Foam Bath huge 500ml one. WDBA. Have one more left in stash. Can't go wrong with Sanex IMO.
    10. The Body Shop British Rose Body Butter mini. WDBA. I got this in a You Beauty box. It's so lovely. I have a rule that I don't buy anything in The Body Shop unless it's on offer because there's almost always an offer but this range still isn't being included in any offer so I might have to break my rule.
    11. Roger and Gallet Gingembre Rouge EDT sample. WMB. I quite liked this. Would maybe buy when I haven't got a drawer full of other stuff.

Does anyone find when they're trying not to buy things in a certain category they just end up buying other things? I seem to have conquered my make-up acquiring habit but now can't stop buying cleansers. Also, in a more general way, since trying to be a bit better with toiletries, my stationery habit has reared its ugly head! :)

Interesting to know about the toner. I was looking at them on Latest in Beauty today although was leaning towards the Soothing one as I have the matching moisturiser. I think the Soothing is alcohol free but will definitely double check now!

I agree about the Lush shower creams. I'm a relatively recent Lush convert and I thought surely the creams will be as good as the gels but they aren't. I'm always scared Prince Charming will dye me pink! It's the only shower cream I have of theirs ATM thankfully. I did have Yummy Mummy but gave it away as the smell really wasn't my cup of tea once it hit the water.
I think with Lush overall I'm learning what does and doesn't work for me. I can't get to grips with solid facial products like Full of Grace. I like the feel of it once it's on but its so messy compared with a normal serum. I'm really struggling with Fresh Farmacy too ATM. If they made a liquid version I would be on it like a shot because it's soothing and smells lovely but I just keep dropping it no matter how big or small a chunk it is! Sometimes I have to admit defeat! :)

I somehow bought all 4 Urban Veda toners When they were on buy 6 items from Latest in beauty. Only the purple one ( radiance hydrating toner) contains alcohol. They all are highly scented.

I don't use lush face things anymore, I was never a fan of full of grace as it was way too greasy for my liking. I used to use coal face and fresh farmacy and liked both. My skincare now is mostly Korean with a few Japanese and the odd British item.
