Parking charge after 3 years

Just received a debt letter for a parking charge (on ASDA car park) for a charge I received in June 2013, almost 3 years ago.

When I received it I ignored it because at the time I believe that was the advice. I am aware it is a bit different now.

Can they pursue this after 3 years, or are they just trying it on ?

Many thanks

They have 6 years in England and Wales (5 in Scotland) to pursue a debt, keep ignoring unless you receive court papers.

Who's the parking company, not so Smart by any chance?

Hi sorry about lack of information, yes the 'creditor' is Smart Parking Ltd. and the letter is from Debt Recovery Plus. I have not communicated with them at all.

    Many Thanks

OK , it seems that smart have lost the contract at asda , there are quite a few cases popping up smart/DR+/ZZPS

maybe they are trying to clear the books or maybe they are working towards a cel/coop situation

as of today/tomorrow asda will not be able to log on to there system and cancel charges

    lets see what emerges

I've just had one pop up again from the back end of 2014 which was appealed but they never responded. I've sent them a letter with a copy of the certificate of posting and told them to FRO, which is why a certificate of posting should always be obtained!

  • Similar here from the same company and 3 years after the original notice.
  • ive had quite a bit of fun collecting on these old ASDA ones this week, Never quite understood why people are so adamant that after three years pursuing these is "outrageous." As if time is an excuse and debts get better the longer you ignore them. "Oh I thought this had been cancelled" (last conversation note is debtor rang up screaming and swearing very abusive states refuses to pay wants court). The reactions from you guys are priceless.
