BPA organise private parking summit

Links:

and

Will be interesting to see what comes out of that.
Clearly the BPA want an end to forum shopping, as they keep losing members to the even-more-cowboy IPC.

The BPA is in a strange position. Its members will hate regulation, but regulation is the BPA's only chance to compete with the Red Cow Yard Gang.

Understand that Barry Beavis will be there - and not for the catering. Hope he provides them with something that will stick in their throats.

    And they say ...
"In all of this it is important to understand why parking is managed, and how charging for the provision of parking in a town centre so that you may drive and shop, is no different from charging for the provision of a bus journey from your street to the closest town, so that you may shop"

WAKE UP BPA, surely you must understand this by now ???
The difference between buses is that they don't scam the public with dodgy ANPR, ridiculous claims, dodgy photos, dodgy signs and in general dodgy operators ... the list goes on and on, and all are BPA members

Sort your own house out first before you compare other forms of transport. Kids could run the BPA better

And buses are relatively inexpensive, and free to OAP's, sounds like a great idea!;)

The sign pictured on the Honest John link seems to state that charges, including that of parking incorrectly (whatever that means) etc only apply after two hours. So, one plain meaning of the sign is park across two bays or anywhere you like, so long as you don't do so for more than 2 hours.

Or is it that you (whoever 'you' is) agree to pay £100 if 'you fail to... park incorrectly'. So parking correctly lays 'you' open to a charge of £100.

It goes on to say that application to DVLC will be made in the case of those who do not abide by the terms and conditions. (Presumably aka breach of contract). So the contract terms (charges apply after two hours) do not apply to anyone who parks for more than two hours, or fail to park incorrectly (!).

Thanks CP plus, I'll bear that in mind next time I visit a Roadchef site.

I hope that when the greatest minds of the parking world meet next month they manage to write signs which are literate.

The greatest minds of the parking world reside on this forum and nowhere else, not the BPA, ISPA or government inc the DVLA.

The IPC, who now think they are "International" ??? including their members, cannot be considered as a legitimate organisation or indeed independent as they are not in the interests of the general public and the government should be aware of this particular scam

FYI, I am one of the invitees to the Summit, along with Barry Beavis, Andy Foster, and the Parking Prankster. Barry and the Prankster are both giving presentations to the delegates.

As for the 'greatest minds' comment, please send me some samples of whatever it is that you are smoking ...

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Don't go suggesting that there is anything megalomaniacal about being "international". The BPA has had international members for donkey's years. Then there is of course the European Parking Association - the immediately past president of which was our old friend Nick Lester(now sporting a double-barrelled)-Davis. He being the Corporate Director of Services at London Councils and who still sits on the BPA Council - and has done for 22 years.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

Don't smoke but the comment was about the likes of you and others on MSE, it's a compliment

No great minds at the BPA though
