I see your point and maybe I should take this as a kick up the butt!!
I didn't even know a 6am existed?? But seems like a good strategy so will do it tomorrow morning
Still gonna complain about it, even if I don't get off with the £60 fine at least it will buy me some time and give them a little extra paperwork to do

Haha - stickin' it to the man in fines and paperwork! An unorthodox approach (I believe the traditional approach was copious amounts of cannabis, various psychotropic drugs, long hair and rainbow coloured clothes to a Jimi Hendrix soundtrack) but hey - if it works for you... :P Haha!
Good luck with the early start - I'll tell you this too, if you make it a regular thing - you'll feel more alive for it (earlier nights added to make up enough sleep of course) There's something really invigorating about being up and about, maybe going for a walk or something (I used to go mountain biking before work for a while - you get some funny looks when people see you caked in mud as the first commuters hit the streets) while most (probably 90% plus) people are still asleep or rubbing sleep out of their eyes.
I found I was actually more productive, less stressed, sharper thinking and to top it all - less tired (before bedtime that is) - than when I was just getting up "in time for work".Everything looks better from the seat of a bicycle.0 -
Sounds like it'd take some time to get used to but I like the way you think. I'm gonna try this as I've been meaning to sort out my daily pattern as I'm always going bed late and up early. No wonder I feel rough during the day!!
Wow I can't believe a thread about fines has turned into advice on feeling better during the day and getting fit in the process. I love these forums
Thanks protector0 -
It's actually something that'll help with getting out of debt too.
Up early means better and more productive at work which can mean more money.
2 tips...
Set a time to get off the internet...
Set a time to stop watching tv...
Stick to both and you'll find things much easier.
It's tough to build the habit of going to bed on time and getting up early - but it's soooo worth it!

MoneyMiser wrote: »Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone thinks I have a case?
I was driving to work yesterday morning when I was pulled up for a "Routine Check". He saw that I was showing the wrong tax disc and fined me £60. Now I explained to him that it had been lost(long story) and that I had contacted the DVLA to report this.
He rang the DVLA and was told that this was correct but because it was over two weeks ago when I called and had plenty of time to get it sorted and it was my own fault. Our DVLA office is always jam packed with 2 hour waits so I would've had to take a day off work to get the new tax disc sorted. Surely the fact that my car is taxed, insured and completely legal I should've been given a slap on the wrist or something?
Told him I've never been pulled before, got any points or even had a bump but he didn't care and seemed to enjoy the fact he was giving me a ticket. I got really annoyed at this point and told him why didn't he try catching the real offenders like the speeders and the un-insured drivers then I drove off.
Surely I have a case with this one?
No. In fact, you're damned lucky not to have been charged with fraud. That's fraud as in proper fraud, not some motoring offence.
Using a tax disc from another vehicle IS WORSE than not displaying one at all.
Your car IS NOT completely legal as you're not displaying a valid tax disc - a requirement of the road traffic act.
"Having to wait 2 hrs" isn't a defence. GET IT SORTED.0 -

!!!!!!!!
Are you the copper that pulled me up lol:rotfl:
I never used a tax disc from another vehicle, it was last years tax disc as my current one had been lost. So before you start harping on about fraud, get your reading glasses back on and read the OP fool
"Get it Sorted" - What a moron

My Oh has just had a £60 fine and 3 points on his licence for speeding.
Do we have to notify his insurance company about the points or just wait until it's up for renewal and then mention it?0 -
You have to tell them as soon as your licence is amended. IF you have an accident you won't be covered because you withheld information from themMy Oh has just had a £60 fine and 3 points on his licence for speeding.

Because it's the law and it's what law abiding citizens doIts your fault-why did you legally register the car so you could be traced?
Just because some peple break the law doesn't make it acceptable.next time do what the cowboys do and get away with it.
How do you know "virtually no effort is made" and once again, just because it's been happening for years doesn't make it right.Seriously can someone say why virtually no effort is made to trace unregistered drivers-this llphole has been used since vehicles have been on the roads.
Legal? What's legal about breaking a posted speed limit?Same old thing-get the drivers who are legal in the first place!

Sorry to the OP, but my view is, you were breaking the law, so pay the fine and keep to the speed limit in future.
Oh, and make sure you tell your insurance company otherwise you may as well not have car insurance - if you don't tell them, that will invalidate your insurance if you do have cause for a claim.0
