Really? I went (with wife) quite a few years ago and absolutely utterly loved it and the people, we had arranged a flexible multi stay holiday so got to see quite a bit of it.
But not sure I would take my teens there, just not that sort of holiday IMHO, but I am glad you had a great time.0 -
Teenagers deciding the parents' holidays LOL.
Anyway, that part of the world will be unbearably hot at that time. So all you could do safely is wander around the air conditioned malls. But if that's your thing....
I would say to myself, now where would WE like to go that means a compromise with the teenagers? Everyone gets a bit of everything!
I don't know where that is, only you and your family can figure that out, but honestly, Desert weather in August? Forget it.
I would go to France and find a lovely Parc or two with slides and water and lovely food, and a temperate climate, and a short journey, and lots of culture and castles, and what the heck. EASY!
Don't forget the kids will be gone to Uni in a few years and will not worry about WHERE they went, but will always remember how much they enjoyed it.
They can do the travelling themselves in time to see different things.
Sorry if I sound a bit of a mad aunt here. But that's the reality. YOU are paying presumably, so YOU decide what suits YOU. And a 50degree climate for a couple of weeks is a no no.0 -
The reality is that it's a family holiday so the needs of all need to be factored in .........
(plus more cynically paradise soon loses its charm if it has a soundtrack of teenagers moaning they are bored)
Kids grow up and out of family holidays soon enough -plenty of time for other holidays once they think they are too grown up to go with Mum and Dad. I think the OP has the right idea - and understands the concept of a family holiday. Mad aunties may not approve but I think most parents will "Get it"

They don't, that's just suggestions if would go here though. We like to go away for a holiday to new places.
A cruise would give you lots of new places and activities for the kids
A few days on safari followed by beach
Florida is cheap enough and there's a lot more to it than the theme parks but a driving holiday say New Orleans then down through northern Florida and flying back from Tampa would be an entirely different experience to an Orlando based trip.
Cuba or Mexico might tick all the boxes too
Have you tried asking the kids where they would like to go- they might surprise you with what they think would make a great holiday !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I've asked the kids and it's the normal, once we first went, Orlando please!! Ha ha.
We may go there next year so don't want to go this year.
A cruise I'd like to do, unsure on kids though, means get to visit numerous places and interesting activities on the ship. Again not sure on price though.0 -
I like Abu, I've done a couple of jobs there, but in the winter (when it gets certainly hot enough). I only had one day a week off work, and that was plenty, though. If you don't like malls, your options are limited.
There is some public beach, but you'll still need to dress considerately. There's a women and kids only beach, but that's not terribly 'family'. There are hotel-owned beaches, they're typically ~£20/day unless you're staying there.
But none of that counts for a lot as in August you'll be staying in Air Con the whole time. There's a reason Knightsbridge gets an influx from the region in the summer months - people who can afford to do so escape the heat.0 -
Looking at Abu I think maybe a 5-7 day stop enough, as has been said it'll be too hot. Don't mind mall's, Ferrari world, water park, GP circuit, tourist trip to famous building? that's probably what we'd do0

5-7 days would be enoughtravelover0

Check out some of the cruise specialists particularly the American ones as US kids go back to school early August so you may get a better family deal through them rather the the UK ones who know August is a captive market. If you want to keep airfares down look at starting your flights to the US in Dublin or Gothenburg and add on a Ryanair flight to get there- Two centre holiday and FAR cheaper than flying from London.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
