Abu Dhabi family hol in Aug?

Struggling what to do this year for family holiday. Been to USA, done "normal" 2 week beach hols etc. Family a little nervy this year more than any on the current world situation.
Few years ago we half looked at Dubai/Abu Dhabi but Ramadan was on when we would go and reading said was a bit limited for tourists.
So is Abu Dubai/Dubai somewhere to go for a 7-14 day holiday for a family, kids are 13 and 16. It'll be around start of Aug so know will be ridiculously hot, and that's a factor to, Ramadan isn't on when we'd go also.
So...
Is it safe?(or safer than some places!?)
plenty to do? Ferrari world, Yas waterpark, F1 circuit, Malls
hotels like novotel etc - are these ok?
which part to go? Yas area looks to be popular looking on things to do?
how strict is it for tourism, thinking covering up, beaches etc, rules.
Flights compared to other places seem cheap, unsure why. What is there to do, shopping and beaches look very nice, anything else?
Love to hear from people who've been as a family and tell me what they did, where stayed etc please, and any general hints and tips.
Thanks

Ha ha suppose it is, worded wrong suppose! Been to Orlando, Disney and universal parks. That's enough for now! NY is far too expensive at moment for us.jackieblack wrote: »All of it?

Not sure the gulf would be near the top of my list, and certainly not in August, the med is too hot then and it's a couple of notches down on the gas oven.
If you want outside Europe and the us then south east Asia is probably next on the list, Thailand or Malaysia is easy, Vietnam, Indonesia or Cambodia if a bit more edge required.
India is a possibility but hassle and expensive in visa terms at least, Sri Lanka would be an easier alternative.0 -
Don't want to goto any of those, as I say kids got to be happy, so looking at Abu Dhabi there's waterpark, shops, theme park etc.Not sure the gulf would be near the top of my list, and certainly not in August, the med is too hot then and it's a couple of notches down on the gas oven.

I know it will be hot, but we always go at this time of year due you school. We've been to some very hot places, Turkey was nearly 50 one year direct in sun, although I expect this would be even hotter!0 -
You definitely do not want to go to Abu Dhabi or Dubai in August. Most of the ex pats living there return to their home countries to escape the heat in the height of summer. The cheap prices are because the heat is unbearable. You really would not have an enjoyable time at all.0

Thats not USA
Why not go to California and do beaches and theme parks there?
You would be bored in AbuDhabi after 5-6 days in the normal heat at Yas Island.
In August you would not be able to go outside until early evening or very early morning.0 -
Would the heat be worse than when we went to Egypt in Aug which was 50° though?
Probably too expensive California...0 -
I used to do work with a company in Dubai whose workforce was 98% recruited from India. They used to try and take their vacations in August (back to India) because of the heat. If they found it too hot then, I'm sure you will, and Abu Dhabi is going to be no different. You'll simply be moving from an aircon hotel to an aircon car to an aircon mall, because you won't be able to sit in the sun.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I was in Turkey a good while back when it hit the mid 50's for three days. Three days holiday came to a standstill as they closed the pool area of the hotel as it was too dangerous to be sat out in it. Even when the temps lowered the pool felt like a hot bath
Getting out of air conditioned cabs and your eyes and nose just dried out in seconds, not fun, in fact rather scary. People were burning so badly that their skin was a mass of blisters
We were fit healthy mid 30's and we struggled.0
