Abu Dhabi family hol in Aug?

Abu Dhabi tends to market itself as a short break/stopover location and there's a reason for this. I might consider it as a 2-3 day part of a multi-centre holiday but suspect after 4 days in August you'll be tearing your hair out.0

Don't want to goto any of those, as I say kids got to be happy, so looking at Abu Dhabi there's waterpark, shops, theme park etc.
I know it will be hot, but we always go at this time of year due you school. We've been to some very hot places, Turkey was nearly 50 one year direct in sun, although I expect this would be even hotter!
If all the kids want is waterparks, shops and theme parks and money's an issue, why go anywhere at a distance?0 -

Dubai:-
Go across the creek in an Abra, go at night and walk the South bank with the cheek by jowl street market
Visit Hatta fort hotel in desert
Gold, spice SoukDebt is a symptom, solve the problem.0 -

But if the kids just want a generic beach holiday with add ons then tasting in Europe seems best, there's cultural issues with most places in the Middle East which will restrict what you do or how you do it.
Why do you want to go to new places if you're not experiencing anything new?0 -
I don't think the Middle East is known for being cheap, particularly eating out and alcohol. We went to Mexico last August and your teens would probably love that (we combined with New York), you've got quite a few activity centres with zip lining etc plus Mayan ruins if you want some culture.0

MrMrMr. Why don't you want to go to SE Asia? There's a heck of a lot more to do than in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.0

I'd suggest perhaps California as well, Santa Monica ? Thomas Cook are doing a weekly flight from Manchester now to LA. You've got Disneyland, Six Flags, beaches etc....then you could always go to LV for a few days ?0
