The vouchers whether boosted or not are only to help pay for goods - not for carriage or post & packing.

Yes, I thought that this would be an exclusion.

I was referring to the £10 limit on Direct boosts that I'd read about. If customers boosted £10 only, the order would be £20 meaning that the £2 Click and Collect charge would be incurred for being under £30 (unless of course they added another £10 of items and paid in money.)

If there was no such limit, then customers boosting £15 or more would not incur the charge (as the order would be £30+) but they might not pay for any of the order in money if they'd saved up enough vouchers.

That said I can't find where I read it now, so perhaps this was incorrect and the article has since been amended accordingly.

The cs person who answered my first email mentioned doubling £12.50 to £25 online, which seems to suggest no limit. Also the site mentions 'every' £5 into £10.

On-line at Tesco Direct has for some time been more flexible, than in-store - though I think in-store is catching up with them.

When the next vouchers come out, then a more detailed announcement will be made. It will come with the vouchers, and it will show on-line.

If you use a £12.50 voucher in-store, the change gets credited back to your clubcard account and will be included in the next mailing (three-months later).
On-line, It will allow you to double the voucher value e.g. £24.00 - to - £48.00, and it will allow you to order from any department - when you get to the product page as long as it has the Boost label no problem. But you cannot overpay, £30.00 for £29.99 item, no problem topping up via a card. And easier - no need to convert to boost vouchers, double-up value calculated at 'check-out.

Last time I did it in-store, sure they said you can mix departments - but I would check that first. And, before you convert, check what you want is available.

Last double-up, I didn't buy anything, but the time before it was across departments in store (something the man who called me thinks will not apply),but I do remember that online was unusually department specific , which really surprised me, having found it a change from the long standing policy. (t did me a good turn,as I looked in store and found a Breville toaster much cheaper than online)

I am not affected by this (It has taken me 2 years to get 100 points) but I wonder if we are seeing the end of loyalty programmes in general.

The upcoming changes will doubtlessly lead to lower value for the consumer - we are becoming more price sensitive and perhaps firms realise that, for regular customers, a one off meal out simply isn't enough anymore.

If it means they are able to invest more in regular pricing then I can't say I will be sad to get rid of a card

No, I think the focus for Tesco in the future is to generate more coupons at the till - hopefully ones that will be useful.

It's rare not to get a coupon in Morrisons, and likewise with Sainsburys - whether it's extra points or conditional spend money off.
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard

A lot of my Tesco points don't come from my shopping, but their petrol stations are on the approved list for my husband's employer's fuel and drivers are allowed to collect the reward points for themselves.

Doubled up my £12.50 in old vouchers today. Was able to boost the lot on Direct so got £35 worth of stuff and only had £10 to pay. Unfortunately didn't get enough points in this period for another voucher as they didn't add my points from completing the customer survey.

Has anyone received any further info from them on the changes? I haven't received any coupons in ages so I'm not sure they'll start dishing them out routinely at the checkout.

I have taken advantage of this scheme this week.

The last ever Clubcard Boost started on Monday, 16 May.

I needed a 128Gb Micro SDXC card for my Samsung Tablet. I loads of vouchers and managed to pay for the £57.00 card totally with the vouchers by doubling up from £28.50. In fact I still have some to spare - I'll tell you about them in a minute!

I bought online and entered my vouchers one by one and watched them double up. I was a little surprised, (but pleasantly so), that even the denominations below £5.00 were also doubling, so even my 50p vouchers became of some use!

I picked up the purchase the next day from my local Tesco store.

Over the last couple of days, because I wanted to take advantage of the £20.50 worth of vouchers I had left, (which when doubled would be £41.00), I pondered over buying some over-ear headphones. This sort of thing usually takes me a few days to make a decision because I like to read up on reviews etc. but I eventually made my decision and having already placed them in my Wishlist on the Tesco Direct website, with the knowledge that they were earmarked as qualifying for Clubcard Boost, I put them in my basket and started the process of payment. That's when it all kicked off!

When I started entering the vouchers, they didn't double up. I abandoned the purchase. I then phoned up Tesco Direct and asked the specific question, were these particular headphones still qualifying for Clubcard Boost? The response was an assured yes. I asked in that case, why my vouchers weren't automatically doubling up, the response came, that this would happen once I completed my purchase.

Well it didn't and I then had to go through the pain of cancelling and now waiting 24 hours for my vouchers to be reinstated to me.

When I was speaking to the Tesco representative, she did offer at the time to conduct my purchase there over the phone and double my vouchers. Stupidly, I said it was OK and I would, with her assurance, do it online. I regret not taking her up on her offer now!

I checked the website listings for all of the headphones without filtering and it was obvious that Tesco had removed every single pair from Clubcard Boost, even the ones that are actually sold out by Tesco and not third party sellers. Not only that, but items that I had looked at before such as Samsung tablets and MP3 players and another visit to the 128Gb SD card, also showed that Tesco had gone in there too and removed those from Clubcard Boost. In fact now, you would be hard pressed to find anything vaguely technical or electronic or anything of that ilk, that has not been removed from the scheme.

I phoned again, in order to cancel my order, and enquire as to what had happened regarding the listings taken off the scheme. She denied that the items had ever been on the scheme in the first place. I tried to prove my point to her regarding the 128Gb SDXC card that I still had the paperwork for, order details, invoices, receipts the lot. It had no effect. I argued that items that I had bought and received already that were included in the scheme are now precluded should still be included, but it seems it is a fluid situation. Fluid and unfair.

In fact I have phoned Tesco now three times today on the same subject adding more information and requesting more answers. Basically I got nowhere. All I got was three totally different explanations. Total inconsistency.

The headphones I selected definitely had the Clubcard Boost icon above it where it was listed, on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday - gone! So Tesco move the goalposts within 3 days of the scheme taking off.

I don't really know how to explain how I feel about this sort of dishonest, dishonourable behaviour, because that is all it is and it makes me extremely angry.

My doubled vouchers got me a steam iron and a pack of clicloc food storage boxes for the princely sum of 50p, so I'm happy. Seems the restrictive multiples of £5 in vouchers doubled to £10 only applies in store, on line amount any can be doubled.
