I think it's a continued sign of whats to come ....
With the complaining/claiming culture that has grown more and more over the years, companies need to claw back profits one way or another.
Club Card, like all loyalty programs cost the company money, add that to the value of complaints/claims/price wars/people looking for cheaper & better deals ..... it's a tough time for them.
I think we as the public can't have everything and it makes perfect business sense for them to want to make savings where they can.0 -

Tesco should have, at least, kept Clubcard Boost going until Xmas. Many will be saving their vouchers until Xmas using the Tesco Xmas Savers. If Xmas Savers don't want to lose the opportunity to boost the vouchers they have already earned, they will have to opt out of Xmas Saver, at least temporarily.0

Because I was making £448 from Tesco at Xmas without ever having to spend a penny in their store! How dare they remove boost that could be used to exploit a gigantic loophole in Xmas Saver!0

The leaflet I received ,today, gives details of the last double up and says, together with the website, has details of the options open to Christmas saver people.
They say that vouchers will continue to be usable at face value and that they will compensate for loss of double up events by offering more points throughout the year (by popular demand-really?).
Booster with third parties will be enhanced (I recall the opposite happening a few years back, when Goldsmiths went from 4 to 3 times voucher value),but none of the offers appeal here. Eating out places are all miles away, family days out are no use without children and offers are only on full price ( hotel bookings can be cheaper by going direct instead of using vouchers on full price/ you cannot buy Goldsmiths items which are reduced and many are).0 -
I've emailed Tesco to ask what this time's double up rules are, as the site doesn't give details beyond £5 doubles to £10.
Often Direct and in store double ups have had different rules, including the ability online to double up any amount and not just in multiples of £5. Last time double ups online had to be per department, yet they allowed you to double up and spread your purchases over departments in stores.
I hope they don't do separate double ups as, if you want a £15 item from dept A and a £25 one from dept B, you would cover these with a single doubling of £20 in vouchers, but separate ones would mean using 2X£5 and 2X£10,then having to add £10 in cash or face value vouchers.0 -
I think it is clear that Xmas Savers should opt out of the scheme immediately to ensure they can boost whatever points they have earned to date and then re-join Xmas Savers in June. For those that have already added money to Xmas Savers, Tesco is refunding this by moneycard.0

Sainsburys better not get any ideas :rotfl:0

So, it appears that all the future holds for redeeming Clubcard points is at face value in the stores (possibly anytime if their technology is up to it), or potential boost with a partner whose deals may be nothing special.
Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
With all the changes in the last twelve months, like huge rise in minimum spend on deliveries, withdrawal of the value own brands, the shift towards more expensive branded goods, fewer offers on everyday items and so on, Tesco are making it really hard for me to continue shopping there. We've already not renewed our delivery saver, won't be long before Aldi gets all our custom.0
