Finally someone with common sense thanks feralmoon.
Our huskies are raced october too april we train them 4-5 times a week on a mountain bike or rig during this time. We race 1-2 times a month during this date range. I suggest the people commenting re crating go on you tube and just type in the words husky damage, then husky moulting.
We once went out too asda and our huskies escaped there crates and came home too carnage our 3000 sofa was shredded, magazines books were eaten, my sons teddy bears, carpet you name it ripped too bits.
I have too be honest here guys my dogs welfare is not in question here but it bloody seems in it is, i am not the one giving up a dog here remember, i am just the one who rescues huskies from people like the op. 2 of my dogs are rescues that were in a right state before coming too us, if posters that no it all want i will post before and after pics of a 12 kg male husky we have who was 3 when we got him he is now 22kg and healthy.
I will upload pics in a moment of my dogs then you can judge there welfare lol
your all showing your ignorance
Thank you for your explanation. Although it is unnecessary for those of us that have an understanding of working dogs. I used to compete at Working Trials with mine but unfortunately you will have a fair number on here that have no comprehension of what you mean and what you have had to deal with over your time with a demanding breed. Those people whose ownership is limited to small and/or easy breeds that they cuddle and spoil.
My worst personal experience of dogs is when I foolishly tried to separate two 90 lb dogs from fighting. I was badly injured but I was younger and sillier back then - now they could kill each other before I stepped in.0 -

Well, that's just a bigger cage.
Sorry, I'm sure you enjoy your hobby, but your dogs don't sound like loved family members to me.
When I first got my current rescue dogs I came home to destroyed furniture too. I didn't just confine them to protect my stuff, I worked really hard to help them become calm, happy animals who were relaxed and not destructive when left alone. It didn't even take very long.
If I didn't feel I was up to the job of training them to live in my home with me, or that I couldn't cope with the moulting, I wouldn't have got 5 huskies. Well, I didn't! Its not compulsory after all...0 -

Surely a house with the doors shut is just a bigger cage too?But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Well, you could argue that I suppose, but its one that the whole family live in, eat in, sleep in and spend their time in. Not one that's used to separate and confine.0 -

my profile name is kind of a give away lol we from september too april race them all over the uk.
As I said earlier, I've never heard the expression "husky runner" and I doubt many other people have either. Your profile picture is so small that it could be anything.0 -

Person One said that one of the things that showed that people don't treat them like humans is that humans go to the Dr when they are ill, and I pointed out that dogs go to the vet. I do not mean that one shouldn't!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I have to admit I am also a bit confused and taken aback by SDW's post.
How can it be wrong to treat animals in the way you say SDW? As Miss B said, apart from dressing them up, I can't see what's wrong with all the rest of the things you said. Why would you NOT take them to the vet when they're poorly? !!!!!!?
And they credit the dog with having feelings and emotions? Well, maybe that's because they DO!
What on earth do you think a dog (or cat) is? Just a piece of meat for the convenience of humans? What a bizarre attitude.
And so what if they sit on the sofas and beds?
Dogs (And cats) are part of the family, so why should they not be treated as such?
Being a decent human being, and loving and caring for your pets is not 'treating them like humans..' And so what if it is?
I just find what you say unfathomable SDW. Truly.
I am actually a bit shocked at your attitude towards pets to be honest.
I ahve explained my comment about the vet in my previous post.
Yes they have feelings and emotions, but not the same as ours and they should not be treated the same.
I think they should be treated like dogs, not like humans. I think it makes for a happier dog. This does NOT mean you do not look after them , it means you look after them appropriate to their species.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Anyway, I am out of this conversation as people get irrationall if you dare to suggest that their dogs area different species. Have a good day.
I'm off to stroke my cats.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I have, and if even if I hadn't, it seems pretty self explanetory to me.
I don't however agree with crating dogs whatsoever.
Edit: Apart from at times of injury or illness.0
