Interesting question actually, my zero offer expires on 4th July this year and I have started looking now. A lot of cars state that you should transfer any balances within the first 60-90 days, so applying ahead shouldn't be a problem.
What I am not sure about is if the promotional period runs from the date you get the card / account or the date you transfer the balance. Which then means you have to plan it wisely.Mortgage Free Wannabe Light Bulb Moment (Early 2012, started May 2012)

Most of the time....yes. Some accounts though are best left open.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Some are useful to keep open for additional offers in the future and also if you have had them for quite a while, the age of the account can sometimes indicate stability.
A good example is Barclaycard, who are known for offering existing customers further BT or MT offers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
