This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Judi I will be thinking of you today, hugs to Hilstep, Candlelight, Dumpling, JackieO, Pollyanna and anyone else in need.
RR, hope you get what you want, Tru, I hope you get your house sorted soon, LW I hope you shoulder is easing, Csarina and Elona, sorry you aren't getting a pension increase,
Rotten night's sleep here tonight so I've given up and come downstairs to watch This Farming Life and post on here, hopefully I'll be able to get back to sleep eventually, but maybe not as I have to be up just after 5.
I've got the last of DD's washing dry so I'll take that round to her this morning and then help with the school run. Thank you for you kind comment Dumpling, unfortunately social services don't think I'm doing enough, my email to them has resulted in the thunderous silence I expected.
Lot's of changes afoot at work, we are just waiting to find out how they will affect us, apart from causing sleepless nights that is.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Hi Hester and everyone else.
I have given up sleep too. Have emptied the dishwasher, cleaned the fridge and cleared the cats things.
Had to take my cat Buddy to the vet yesterday. I didn't take him in the end, my cousin did. He has been getting sicker over the past two weeks. He had a massive cancerous tumour in his stomach and his liver was shutting down too He was a lovely boy who I had had for six years after getting him from an RSPCA rehoming centre.
:A
Had a lovely birthday yesterday, but knew I couldn't put off the inevitable. Just didn't want it on my birthday.
Going for my Hospice day today.. Reflexology and a lovely lunch. May cheer me up.
Hope everyone's okay. If not loads of love ant hugs. xxI Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off, even though a very early one x
Judi - hope everything goes as well as these things can x
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry but cold and frosty - sky is blue and no cloud, so sun is shining. Load of washing ready to go out on the line, I'll do that shortly.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta in a creme fraiche sauce, menfolk had a small breaded chicken piece with theirs, I had just the pasta. Tonight we're having fish, menfolk will have fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I've decided I fancy fish pie, so got the fish out to defrost overnight, will poach that in milk later then use the milk to make the white sauce and I can make the topping out of the LO mash in the fridge, another LO used up.
Work yesterday wasn't horrendously busy, but we were steady, the staff that are working on the telephones are saying that the phone lines are just constantly jammed and busy, customers are waiting 30-40 minutes in queues to speak to someone. Myself and my colleagues were talking yesterday and whilst the frontline services and face to face contact has been dramatically cut so customers are directed to use the internet etc themselves, what's actually happening is they come into visit us, can't get the help they need, so then say "can I phone and get them to do it", the staff on the phones are us on rotation and the only access we have is the same as we have face to face, so although we appear less busy the work has just been shifted and is now coming through the phone lines, but that's leading to very unhappy customers due to waiting times and the face that we have much less access now. Apparently is called progress - can't really see it myself! I'm working until later today as I have the extra hours to do this afternoon, all day today I'm working on the telephones - that'll be fun then, but I have been allocated an office on my own, so at least it's less pressured. I'm working Sat morning also, so will feel like a short weekend, as I'm working next weekend also, but at least we have the Monday off for Mayday.
Had a bit of a job last night when I got home, I realised last week that my car tax reminder notice hadn't arrived and still hadn't yesterday afternoon, so went on the website and it stated that if you have a log book in your name you can go online and use that - I tried several times and it kept saying that it didn't recognise my car details etc, so then left it for a few minutes then tried again and re-input everything and it worked, so all sorted, minus £100+ though!
I have several jobs that are building a "to do" list for tomorrow and Friday - will try and get as much done as possible so weekend is left open in case we want/need to go to the hospital.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
And a wonderful cold, clear, sunny morning it is! Washing the bathroom mats today so they can go out before I go out to work.
Judi - My thoughts are with you today.
hilstep - So sorry to hear of your cat's passing, always tough when we lose a loved pet.
Welcome to the newbies, look forward to hearing all about you.
Hugs to those in need, hope Davie is improving JackieO.
RR - I'm sure you will do what is right for you, lovely to know that they think you are more than capable of stepping in.
Dumpling - today's another day, you are doing fine.
DD met me from work yesterday and I ran her home, via Sainsbugs and Tesc0, I got some more fresh veggies, gosh I'm going through them with this BSD.
Going out for a meal with work colleagues as one of them is just about to go off on maternity leave. At least it's straight from work so should be home around 8 - can't be doing with late nights on a school day!
Hope you all have sunshine today, take care. XX0 -
Hester thank you for starting us off, I hope you managed to go back to sleep for a while
Hilstep I am so sorry about Buddy, he will be welcomed and well looked after over the Rainbow Bridge, I know you will miss him.
It is a lovely morning here, DD is doing a bit of shopping for us and we have friends coming to see Himself, so looking forward to that. We have been friends since our children were little and went to the same primary school. They had 2 boys and we had 2 girls and they were like brothers and sisters.
Judi thinking of you today.
Have a good day all
