  • Hi ladies and good luck with your conceptions! We went for investigations after about a year and i was completely amazed to find that the problem was with DH rather than me..somehow that idea had never even occurred to me. Nothing could be done for us, but now we have an absolutely fantastic adopted son and we wouldnt have it any other way. So hold onto hope..things have a way of turning out for the best.
  • Hi all, so glad this thread was started, so special to be able to chat with of you thay may be having the same prob's TTC....
DH & I have been trying now for 3 years, started tests last yr to be told in Sept 06 that i have PSOC (such a shock as no symptoms at all, regular as clockwork each month and no other issues that normally relate to this)...to be told i am not ovulating was a big crush..also DH having issues with low SC
so between us both not much luck...
Been on first course of treatment for the last 3 mths of clomid to make me ovulate, this has also not worked (still no where near the ovulation level i should be), so feel real down in the dumps now :(... as on the NHS god only knows how long before the next treatment,or even what this will be.....

Good luck to you all and i hope we are all holding our little bundles of joy sooner rather than later xxx

  • Hi,

Just thought I would answer what Pre-seed is. It is a lubricant that has been specially made for people that are TTC. It mimics a womans cervical mucas so doesn't harm sperm in anyway. Many people say that they have only gotten pregnant by using it. You insert the pre-seed around 15 mins before intercourse then just go at it as normal :).

The best place I have found on the web is http://www.smefertility.com - you can get it in packs of 3 or 6 and this site lets you buy it with some ovulation tests or pregnancy tests for just £2.00 more.

    I hope this has help.

Not TTC, but toying with the idea ... however, I am one of those women who didn't meet the right guy until I was in my late 30s, so wouldn't bet on it being too likely. I wouldn't stress about it though, if it happens it happens ... has anyone tried alternative therapies? I trained in reflexology, appararently some women credit this with helping them get pregnant.

OH has said I need to gain some weight before TTC ... am only 43 kilos ...

Are you short, thin, or both?

Being underweight can affect your cycle (for me, losing half a stone or so was enough to make periods a bit odd) I think it's all about whether you're a healthy weight for your size.

    Hi Fay,

I'm 5'2", so pretty short I guess! Periods mostly normal, but last one came a week early (happens occasionally when a bit stressed)

    Hello everyone!!!!

So nice to find this thread! We are ttc just the first month, so don't have any high hopes yet. Especially, since the circumstances are such that we see each other at the weekend...

Anyway, we decided that it is time to start family. We made appointment at our surgery and were told to see nurse about family planing. Can you imagine the surprise, when her first question is 'so, you want to know about contraception?' - after I called twice to make the appointment and told that we want to have a baby. Anyway, we managed to get blood tests done in the end, just because we didn't know if we are immune to rubella (we are from abroad) - we even pointed out, that OH should have one, not just me, as if I get pg before tests are back and he gets rubella, it would be high risk for baby! (all is fine, just cholesterol a bit high, my white blood cells (?) are just below limit, and my folic acid is out through the roof - I have been it taking it for a couple of weeks by then, and yes, we are both immune to rubella). Anyway, we waited for my first period after I stopped the pill, but now it is all go!!! We are going for our 'late' honeymoon in December to NZ for over 3 weeks, so maybe we will come back not two, but three!!!!

Good luck to all other ttc's!!!!

Very quick newbie question hopefully on topic though - before starting the whole TTC process properly, is the usual thing in the UK to have pre-conception checks (for the lady) at the doctors? My OH is from the US where this is the normal process but I've no idea if that holds true here?

    Thanks!

Do you mean a general check up or more detailed checks like blood tests to see if you are ovulating or tests to see if your tubes are clear? As far as I know, here in the UK we aren't offered any tests before TTC. You will only get a general check up if you ask for it.

That is what we went to the GP for!!! Reading on all the website to have the pre-pregnancy check-up (even Bupa website), we decided to go and have this done. But when we came we were offered advice on contraception!!!!! Well, at least we got blood tests done in the end.
