Morning :hello:

redruby You've answered my question before I could ask it :D I was going to ask if you would want the job.

meanmarie Great news, congratulations! x

Miss tru flew off on holiday with her boyfriend yesterday. They were planning a holiday but weren't sure where to go, then their friends invited them to their wedding in the Dominican Republic and made up their minds for them :D

Master tru came back from Cornwall with a toy and some treats for Scampi and biscuits and fudge for us :D They had a great time, his girlfriend had never been before so he drove her all over the place, she loved it. He took her to Mevagissey so she could see my favourite place, I was quite chuffed about that :D
When he got home, he walked in, looked around and asked what had happened. I just said 'dad', he said 'ah right'. He was home from work by mid afternoon yesterday, said he was taking over the bathroom and set about sorting it out. It just needs a couple of touch-ups now.

I spent the day cleaning, putting things back where they belong, scraping paint drips off everything, repainting shelves that had been rushed and chucking balls through the back door to keep Scampi entertained :D The kitchen is almost functional and I can now get to the lounge window to open the curtains, lol.

More of the same today. Painted shelves (not gloss, I couldn't find paint to match the walls in gloss) look great but are a pain to keep clean so I'm wondering if multi-surface clear varnish would work on paint. I'm going to try it on one shelf today.

Apart from that, I must do an online shop, hopefully I can have it delivered tomorrow.

Happy birthday for yesterday Hilstep

I have just reread my post, full of typos but ho hum.

Still have not started work. Also have forgotten to have breakfast, must make toast. With marmite, this is probably my staple food which explains why 5 am the shape of a tellytubby.

TA I have given up with hairdressers, hate going, I get bored when they are cutting it so I just put it up in a bun or a pleat thing and when it gets really long I steel myself and get a few inches hacked off the ends
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
• Belated birthday wishes HILSTEP and big ((HUGS)) too. Hope your appointment goes as well as it can xx

Belated Happy Birthday Hilstep and <<hugs>> to you hope things get easier for you Honey.

Had a good day yesterday we went to Shugborough Hall and the county museum what an amazing place it was, great day out, and for my friend and I half price at £6 each was terrific value. We had a beautiful meal at lunchtime (20%off) and took our sarnies home and ate them at tea time instead :) the staff there were really informative and we absolutely thought it was one of the nicest stately piles we've been to for ages, and we enjoy a good stately home :)The county museum was really good nd there was so much to see. i'd highly recommend it to anyone in the are.

Waiting at the moment to hear from the hospital about Davey's chemo as he is due to see the Cardio guy first before he can start more treatment .As well as myeloma, he has a dysfunctional heart and has had a couple of stents fitted already. My brother is an amazing fighter and virtually bionic bless him

He was the poorly twin at birth whom the Dr had pushed to one side as he thought he was too small, and concentrated on the larger twin. That one sadly died, but Davey squeeked and the Dr said we'll do our best with the little one

He weighed into this world at 1lb 12 ozs during the blitz in 1941 and survived in a small shoebox on top of a blanket wrapped hot water bottle for three months before my Mum put him into a cradle. My Dad said he was the length of his hand but had a strong pair of lungs :)and used them often. He has, over the years had many scrapes and accidents and lost an eye at 11 but nothing has ever stopped him from doing what he could to enjoy life he's been married three times and in his youth was a real ladies man with a permanaent twinkle in his eyes for the ladies :) but he hasn't got a nasty bone in his body bless him and would go out of his way to help anyone worse off than himself Even all his ex-wives think the world of him.I am proud of how he is doing his best to keep going even with all his health problems and his recent berevement, I have everything crossed for him at the moment If anyone can do it he can

My friend June has been great and is keeping me fully occupied with doing things We are going tothe Gladstone potteries today and also cheadle church as its a Pugin one that we have been recommended to see.

My cold is also in full flood and my nose is running like the Thames :):):) all comes at once doesn't it.
Still onwards and upwards
Hope every one is having a good day

Cheers everyone
JackieO xx
• Good morning to you all.

Never managed to post yesterday, was one of those mornings.

Sending my well wishes to those who’s family members aren’t well, or those who aren’t feeling too clever themselves (dumpling).

Congrats meanmarie on the fantastic news. You must be delighted.

Yesterday I heard back from the job I applied for and I’m through to the next stage!!!! To help things, I used to work with the HR woman who told me the good news, so hopefully that’ll go in my favour.

Morning all,

(((hugs))) to our dear Hilstep and apologies for missing your birthday. I'm proud of the way you handle your prognosis with such grace.

Marie so pleased to hear your news.

Mom's funeral tomorrow so I'll be trying on my black dresses to see which I look best in. It's not a fashion show I know but if I feel that I look good it will give me the confidence to handle whatever happens. I can't believe she's been 'gone' 19 days and I've got this overwhelming urge to put things in my life right. Just as I did with Mom. Haven't got a clue where to start though.

Roast beef and roast potatoes for our evening meal tonight. The men will be home.

Onwards and forwards

Have a great day all

Just had to look at meanmarie's post last night - many congratulations, a new life is always exciting.

My plans for today have already changed. Call me whimsical. :) I've decided to go to Arran tomorrow morning as I have to go out anyway first thing for a hair cut. I can find plenty to occupy myself at home today.

Now I can get up and showered.
• Hello everyone! I hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in here and introducing myself...seemed like the best place.
I'm new here and am determined to sort my life out and be happy! Getting used to things being different and how to do things by myself etc and live how I want to live after my husband leaving me last year ( after 14 years).
I'm a mum to two girls aged 13 and 11 and it's been a pretty tough year all round what with one thing and another.
But I'm happy, enjoying life again so how's the time to start working on all the practical houses/cooky etc little life bits!

Hello everyone, I am a returner after many years. I used to come here often but then drifted away from the money saving website with the intent of coming back a lot sooner. Reading this thread reminds me of the companionship that can be found, albeit not in person.
A recap. I am Elaine, 51. Originally from Reading but now living in Birmingham. Mum to 7, most of which are now adults. Youngest child is 13. He has some difficulties so my days are taken up very much with him. ( I home educate to alleviate his extreme anxiety) . Not easy. I also have 3 grandchildren and another due in October, God willing. I am looking for the old life. A feeling of satisfaction with not necessarily so many material things. I am looking for relaxed chatting, friendly support and virtual company, which is why I came back here. I am also hoping to be better at money saving as the pace of how my money leaves the bank, is scary.
I recognise many names here and look forward to becoming a regular. Hope that all makes sense and doesn't scare you off. Have a great day everyone. Hugs to those in need. Xx

Good morning
Jackie Davey sounds an amazing man . I really hope he is able to keep on keeping on for as long as possible . Pleased you had a good day yesterday it is better than being at home worrying at the moment . x
Hilstep Belated happy birthday from me to too . Good luck with the consultant and hopefully cat will be ok .
Tru Clear flat varnish will be fine but it needs to be non-yellowing . I buy Wilkos own but if you don't have a store near you there are other brands that do it . I keep meaning to mention how much I love your signature , now in my sixties there still times I look for an adultier adult .
Very pleased that Mr Candlelight is improving , big hugs to you both xx
Hope you both have a good trip to Skipton TA . The sun is shining here so you should have decent weather - not very warm but better than yesterday .
Sending a big pile of spoons to LW ( and sticks if you need them )
begone shoulder pains vibes and a virtual hug x
Judi We will all be with you in spirit tomorrow . Look after yourself love x
Wonderful news Marie , such fun for you in the future .
Fingers crossed for Speky and the job .
A big welcome to the new thread members - I am still working my way back through over a weeks worth of posts so apologies if I have missed any .
Henry day here and ironing . I had 2 deliveries due and luckily the first arrived a short while ago so hopefully the next one will arrive soon . I hate making sure I carry around the doorbell - usually I run to answer the phone and forget where I left it !!
Hugs to all and have the best day you can .
Gers Weather there sounds lovely . Really interesting to read of the stuff you're sending to Australia - precious family history . Take it gently , you will have wobbly days . Everything was so swift , intense and physically draining you will need time to process events. Make the most of the good weather and enjoy the sun . It's a rare event in your neck of the woods so make the most of it . By the way I have deep Arran envy . x
