O/S Daily Tuesday 19 April 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x
Now light, bright and sun trying to come out, dry underfoot, not sure what the forecast says, I’ll put washing on the line if it looks like it’s going to be a dry day.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit, but will wake him shortly to get ready for school.
Dinner last night was a use up night – cleared the fridge of LO roast potatoes, I cut them into small pieces in a roasting dish laid some smoked bacon over the top and cooked them in the oven until reheated then sprinkled some grated cheese over the top and black pepper and just browned it off, we had some cold cooked gammon ham, boiled egg, cous cous and salad/pasta salad/coleslaw – nothing got thrown away and have another meal to move to another night. I still have LO mash, Yorkshires, carrots and cauli/broc cheese to use up, so need to have a think how I’m going to incorporate those into another meal. Tonight we’re having smoked sausage and mushroom pasta with a crème fraiche sauce. I had planned fish, chips/jacket potato, beans and veg for either last night or tonight, think I may do that tomorrow night and I’ll make myself a fish pie to use up the mash.
Work yesterday was an all or nothing day, we were either so busy we didn’t know which way to turn or had no customers at all, very strange. We’ll see what today brings.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
MM - Congrats on the baby news!
Hope DH is still improving candlelight.
How has your DD enjoyed her time away Islandmaid?
Hugs to the poorlies.
Yesterday's sunshine didn't really materialise until about 7pm, too late to do anything useful outside. Today looks better, the sun is nearly out and the forecast is good. Has to be warmer than yesterday, the wind would have cut you in two!
Washing on the line already, packed lunch made - I've told the dinner ladies that they are only to give me salads and I'll pick out the bits I can eat.
Work was total madness being the first day back, I expect it to be the same again. At least the day goes quickly.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Hugs to JackieO, and anyone else in need.
We are at work as hubby is on the early shift. I'll go to dd's at 7 to help with the school run and then back to work.
It's busy at work, yesterday I used 30 teams of paper in 6 hours.
I got 2 lines of washing dry whilst I was at work, one load was mine and one for dd. Only one more load to do for her tonight unless I collect more today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning everyone :hello:
This is going to be short and sweet as I can barely keep my eyes open.
Congrats to meanmarie on the news of your next grandchild, hope everything goes well for them x
Still thinking of you JackieO and Davey, keeping everything crossed for a good outcome x
Hester, you have no idea how much I hold you in high esteem for helping with your DD. I wish my mum had been as helpful when I was poorly. Make sure you look after yourself too though xx
I'm off back to bed as I feel awful, will catch up with everyone's news later today, take care xx0 -
Morning, I had a busy writing day yesterday so did not get here but have read yesterday's posts.
Congratulations meanMarie, how exciting!
Another two days of paperwork at home, I get through much faster when at home as fewer interruptions though I have had to give in and accept a work mobile so now if I am not there, people ring me up on it. Is posher thsn my mobile though and it does have my diary on it, si that's a big plus.
Dinner last night was sausage and mash, onion (well shallot) gravy, with broccoli. I ate the broccoli and some mash and had two bites of sausage and handed tge rest over. My family does quite well out of my pickiness. They are natural carnivores, I am not but tend to eat the bits of a meal that I like rather than making a separate dish.
I will start work soon.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all and what a beautiful start it is. It promises to be a lovely day. Congrats to one and all MARIE, lovely news. Thinking of JACKIE and CANDLELIGHT and hoping things are going as well as they can be.
I have the hairdressers this morning. I hope she cuts it just like last time as it was so easy to manage. I went shorter than normal, similar to what used to be called a pixie cut in the old days. Now it's grown into it's usual unruly mop again!
I'm meeting up with Mr TA afterwards as we are going on the bus to Skipton. Not a market day today so we'll have a wander down to Belmont Wharfe and a walk along the canal. Finishing up in 'Spoons for a Steak Day late lunch. I'll have my customary tour of the charity shops too.
I tackled my summer clothes yesterday but didn't find as much for the charity bags as I did with winter clothes. I must have had a clear out before I moved them to the back wardrobe for the winter. I also took stock of all the paper backs accumulating. Bought myself from the cs and passed on by my friend. When am I going to find time to read 28 books?!! A couple that I know are not to my taste have gone in the charity bag and I really must stick to my intention of not buying any more!
I am persevering with the BSD but avoiding the scales for a few days as I was getting disheartened and they were in danger of getting chucked through the window into the garden!
Have a nice day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care. Have an enjoyable break CSARINA xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Looks like a nice day here, I'm off to work they have asked me to step up as senior lead while they advertise for a new manager, I have asked for a pay rise before I commit so I will see what they offer. They have also asked me to apply for managers job but I'm in two minds, I am not sure I want the pressure !
Something with mince for dinner possibly a chilli of spag bol and I need to do a wash tonight and have a sweep through.
Marie congratulations on the news xxx
Jackie O hope you are ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone.
I woke at half past three, went to the loo and feel asleep again. Just woke to brilliant sunshine, twinkling sea and Jura all visible and beautiful.
No real plans for the day though I'm inclined to drift over to Arran seeing as I had to abandon a trip there in late Feb / early March.
Back on BSD again, yesterday was just a horrible day and I react with food. I was trying to book my Mum transportation for her appointment at the geriatric day hospital and the woman doing it was being extremely difficult, passive - aggressive and unhelpful. It was a real struggle and I don't understand why.
I've got acpiececof belly pork steeping in brine a la Tom Kerridge which I'm keen to cook and try. He made it look beautiful and very inviting.
Little jobs include sending off my postal vote and renewing TV licence.
Happy Tuesday everyone.0 -
Morning Guys,
Got on here early, but couldn't start the thread as couldn't remember how to copy and paste on my iPad!:rotfl:
Anyway, it was my birthday yesterday, along with DGD Imogen. S he was 6 I was 57.
We had a lovely day, with loads of cards and flowers. My DD and. DSIL took us for a meal last night.
OH is in my bad books, he's not here at the moment, but he'd completely forgotten it was my birthday, flowers arrived when I was out, they were left on the doorstep. It looked like someone had died!
He needs to make it up bigtime:mad:
Going to see my Pallative consultant today. My other one has taken me off his list as the cancer has gone in my bones now, and they can do no more. Not worried, just getting on with it.
Cousin is taking cat to the vet today too. He has some sort of ear infection and is very thin, bony even. Waiting to see if it's just medication, or if her will be going over the rainbow bridge.
Anyway, hope you all have a good day xI Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning everyone,
Cold but bright and sunny here, hopefully will be nicer for my lunchtime walk.
Was really tired last night after very busy day at work so didn't do much apart from cook some tea, DOH has started decorating the porch after I finally decided on the colour so his work permitting that will be done this week. Then will decide where to do next....
Many congratulations to Marie and her family.
Have a good day all, take care folks x0 -
