However you and the people of the UK can remove those from power in the UK, but not in Europe, bar a small % of UK MEPs.
And the people of Dorset can remove those in power at the County Council, but not in the UK, bar a small % of UK MPs.
There seems to be a confusion between national sovereignty and democracy.
Of course the UK gives away a portion of its national sovereignty by being a member of the EU, and you might disagree with that, however that does not mean less democracy.0 -
One of Tony Benn's classic rules of democracy was 'how do we get rid of you'? How do UK citizens get rid of Juncker?
That`ll be the Juncker that my elected representative battled fiercely against but other peoples elected representatives "appointed" anyway?“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

Yup - just like Russia and China and North Korea, as long as you get a vote that is all that matter...what does it matter whether that vote can change anything.....I think....0 -
The UK is a sovereign state, the EU isn't, yet.
And?Why does it need to? Why not just have the common market?
You may need some laws to govern trade in this common market. You might need to standardise some things, and so forth.The very same. The UK has extremely limited influence in the EU.
Since my choice of MP was not elected in my constituency, I have zero impact on UK laws, same as EU laws. And of the two, I find the UK laws more directly impacting my life in a frustrating manner.0 -

Except of course that the common market includes the freedom of movement.0

Does it indeed...... just imagine a UK trade deal with the EU, given far less important Canada got a very good deal and NO free movement obligation;
EU-Canada trade deal
http://ec.europa.eu/trade/policy/in-focus/ceta/index_en.htm
CETA will tackle a whole range of issues to make business with Canada easier. It will remove customs duties, end limitations in access to public contracts, open-up services' market, offer predictable conditions for investors and, last but not least, help prevent illegal copying of EU innovations and traditional products.
The agreement contains also all the guarantees to make sure that the economic gains do not come on expense of democracy, environment or consumers' health and safety.0 -

In what way was ignoring the will of the Greek people NOT a dilution of democracy?0
