Bought a new car, need some help.

Hi,
I was wondering if you lovely people could help me.
Basically I had an idea of the car I wanted but it was out of my price range for the spec I wanted ( I could have afforded the repayments on a more expensive car but I just didn't want to spend over £9K). The dealer showed me an alternative car, a 'city' car. I didn't particularly love it but I made the decision to test drive it.
It was ok to drive, but I had some concerns I have a commute 3 times per week of 200 miles so at least 600 miles would be driven in it per week plus it was only a 1.2 petrol whereas my current car that my husband gave to me was a 1.7 diesel.
The dealer said that mpg would be fine in this car, given the above concerns I still signed on the line. 0% for 5 years.
I felt although I wasn't overly convinced of the car I would grow in time to like it, picked it up on Friday and signed the credit agreement and I drove it on the motorway yesterday and it's just not great to be honest, I really don't like it.
It's in my husbands name for the finance and he was with me when purchasing it, to be brutally honest I only got it because the dealer along with my husband were making all of the right noises.
I now know I should have dropped the kind of spec that I wanted and got a different car.
I called up the dealer today, no shouting very nice conversation and asked if there was anything I could do as I really really don't like it. The salesman along with their website page also had it listed for having start stop and it doesn't however the advert has now disappeared online so I can't do anything about that. The dealership said they could wind down the agreement but I really really don't understand what this means and after some googling only American sites are coming up so I wondered if someone could help me?
I would be more than happy to get a different car and still pay the finance it truly has nothing to do about affordability but the was my first car buying experience and I've done everything wrong (I'm so embarrassed about the whole thing) I just need some advice, please don't be brutal.
If the answer is I've signed it and I'm stuck then that's also fine as my husband has a car that he's said I can use when I commute so it's not a problem and he genuinely loves the new car, but I just thought I would ask the question anyway.

I would doubt you will be able to swap the car without penalty, and I doubt the lack of start stop would be significant as you should have spotted that on test drive.
I just bought a Picanto 1.0 and it is not that bad on the motorway, not as nice as many cars I have owned and lacks the torque of a turbo diesel. So I can understand your point.
Driving on a motorway would have been a good idea during the test drive.0 -
Go in branch and ask them to explain what that means. Explain you'd be happy to cover admin fees and see if you can all agree on a solution.
But don't add too many miles to it as that won't go in your favour.
Problem is though, now it's had one more registered keeper0 -
Thanks very much for the reply.
I think I might just need an adjustment period.
I did ask about the start stop on the test drive and he said he wasn't familiar with Vauxhall's so wasn't sure how it worked. We weren't allowed on the motorway as it was too far but we were on a 50mph stretch.
I am thinking in my head it's just going to take me a while to get used to it but I also had this thing of getting my first car and just loving it and because I don't it's a bit of a let down. Totally my own fault and no one to blame but myself and I guess the good thing is I've got rid of an older car and I won't have to keep the new car forever.
Edited to add it's my first car as my husband bought the previous one before I could drive and when I passed my test he gave me that and got himself a new one.0 -

You might find you just need to rev the engine a bit more which is not something you do on larger engined cars and certainly not on torquey turbo diesels.0 -
My husbands other car is a 1.4 polo blue GT so against the diesel we had they are pretty much of the same power. Because I also drive this car too I am definitely noticing the difference. It's because the power isn't there and I think that's what's putting me off and I keep thinking in my head how am I going to drive 200 miles in this?! This is what I should have thought on the test drive.
Having said that, it's comfortable, spacious enough for me, has DAB and Bluetooth so I really don't know why I am complaining! *head in hands*0 -
It's certainly refreshing to see somebody with buyers remorse not blaming the seller.0

It took me a few weeks to get used to the lack of low down oomph in the Picanto.
Have been driving fairly powerful turbo diesels for years.
Once you get used to "using all the revs" a low powered vehicle is just about as quick as some much more powerful vehicles.0 -

Do you feel comfortable in the car now too? I admit yesterday when I was driving it around the street I was sort of like hmmm this isn't too bad, but on the motorway and I was at 4/5 Revs I was thinking oh my god!
Just an adjustment period I think.0 -
If your husband loves the new car do a full swap!0
