    Mortgage-free Glee!
Well, having spotted this thread this morning I've been out to buy pattern and wool for sweater for DH! Have made myself promise to knit for at least one hour a day until it's finished.....I used to love knitting, but remember that I used to get so far then stop for weeks on end!
My Mum always used to buy her wool over a period of time, it was the norm I think. The woolshop used to put away the total amount needed and then it was purchased as needed.
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!

Knitknack - that's weird, I was going to post this morning but got sidetracked, then read your post and the two groups you mentioned are the only two I'm in on Ravelry!

I am almost at the end of crocheting a cardigan I've been working on for a few weeks. It's my first project using 'recycled' wool. I got a fairly shapeless charity shop jumper for a couple of quid but it is lovely wool. Took me an evening to unravel but now feel extra pleased with myself as the wool was so cheap.

I think using recyled yarn or clearance bargains is the only way I will be able to afford to do any knitting these days, I can't believe the price they charge sometimes for 50g of yarn! Saying that I do have a weakness for buying the odd ball of lovely hand dyed yarn from ebay when it's fairly cheap.

Hi everyone, such a great response in just one day!!! Brilliant, all us knitters out there need a decent forum like this one, :money:how 'bout it Martin???
I too am enjoyin knitting again and am just finishing the characters from 'The Night Garden'. :rotfl:Took me ages finding the original patterns but am loving it!!!
Not sure if I would go so far as unravelling charity shop jumpers, not that I am snobby just lazy!!!!
I too love Debbie Bliss and agree the best place is often e bay on the auction, great bargains to be had. But by far and away Sirdar takes a lot of beating, every colour and thickness to suit everyone and I think it is reasonably priced.
Happy Knitting everyone and speak to you all soon!!!:T

So does Ravelry include us crocheters? I checked it out a while ago and it seemed to be only for knitters.

Yes crochet is included on Ravelry! If you are on the Patterns tab just below the search option it says Personalize and gives you the options 'knit + crochet' 'crochet' and 'knitting' this filters the patterns to the relevant ones. I think both together is the default and the list of popular patterns seem to tend to be knitting patterns but if you select crochet it will come up with the popular crochet patterns.

My big problem with Ravelry is that it somehow makes time disappear and I have a much bigger queue of things to make than I will ever have time to make. Just having a quick glance now and the list is getting bigger!
