Hi everyone,
Welcome to ellejayteeyou are now on the budgets list.
Hope everyone is going okay? I am trying to use things up in the freezer this week and next to avoid too much of an overspend. It's really hard as DH is at home having been made redundant, so we are going through bread, cheese, ham, milk, teabags..... like no-one's business. He would ordinarily have a quick breakfast then buy his own lunch at work. Hopefully he will find a new job soon.
Have a good day all.

Hi all! I discovered this board last week and have been following avidly since. I have been recording my spending for the last few months in the MoneyDashboard app so I have a good idea on how much I was spending on groceries. I downloaded the mySupermarket app this week and have been using it. This has already made a big difference. I am trying to bring my monthy shop down from over 600 to 400 for this first month and then look after how I can make further savings. So far I have spent 190.91 on groceries but hoping this will see me through to the weekend. Not on subject groceries but I have also banned myself from caf!s and have bought a flask. Some great ideas I have read here. Hoping this is the beginning for me to try and save....October 2016 Grocery Challenge £76.11/250/

So I bought things today which go against the target of 'just bread and milk' I had set myself, but I feel it was worth it and I'll explain why.
I have been writing to companies about how much I love their products and have been getting vouchers in return.
Today I went to Sainsbury's and spent 2.10 on pasta, meaning i could use my 40 bonus points voucher for spending over 1.75 on pasta. I also used a triple points coupon.
I got a 510g box of rice krispies for FREE because it was 2 quid and i had 3 x 1 pound vouchers from kelloggs.
I got a clean and clear face scrub for FREE because i had a 2 quid off voucher from johnson and johnson, and i used the my supermarket website to see who was selling it cheapest, and sainsbury's were for 2 quid.
I went to tescos and bought bread for 85p
I then went to Superdrug and bought a 500ml bottle of total care listerine using a 1 pound off voucher for it from the everyday caring website. I had used the my supermarket website again to find out who was selling it cheapest.
So I got 9.22 worth of shopping for 4.22, saving 5 quid. And i still have a 1 quid voucher for kelloggs, so that will come in useful.
If i could have had a few more days like this this month I would have been well on track.
14.11 remains of the 185 budget. 2 weeks to go till next shopping day.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

I know the day has barely begun but I am declaring today as a NSD. We have all the food we need, I have decided against a trip to Morrison's, anything that could be doing with being bought can be bought tomorrow when I will be spending money anyway.
I'm going to have a nice day at home, or maybe in the park. The sun is shining here, it is lovely.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

I made a trip into Lidl this morning as needed petrol and salad items, SUPPOSED to get warmer, so £25 on petrol, £25-68 in Lidl, that included a new mini chopper as another one died on me, and dog chews.Do I need it or just want it.0

OH bought a pasty for himself, milk and cucumber today, so budget is now up to 172.81 with 12.19 remaining till the 27th.
Made a batch of veggie lasagne with 7 vegetables in it, and it was yum. Have enough for another dinner/lunch at least and it was a good way of using up some sorry looking courgettes and tomatos. As usual replaced most of the mince with lentils and I don't think it lacked anything.
Already looking at filling up my online basket for next months shop. Food shopping is pretty much the only shopping I can afford to do so i take pleasure in it. It's one way of controlling my shopping fix.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020
