The paperwork I have when I ordered the car had the scotch guard, tax and petrol added, it came to £7201, he said if I paid a deposit of £201 it would leave a straight £7000 to pay on the day. My paperwork says at the bottom "final payment due £7201" and stapled onto that is the receipt for the £201.

And yet you paid £7,310 on collection, which is more than the original invoice total before you paid the deposit! You really should have picked up on that at the time.

Do you have any paperwork that shows a total of £7,511, or a separate invoice for £310?

On the face of it, you have been overcharged without justfication and you are due a refund of £310. The dealership's response on Monday will be very interesting.

Thank you to everyone for their advice.

I had an email late yesterday, I'm getting the £310 back, someone is going to contact me tomorrow about it. I'm still curious as to where it actually came from in the first place.

    Excellent news!

So am I, especially as you queried it at the time, but were left confused by the reply.

I hope the dealership gives you an explanation of how the error occurred. If they don't, I would definitely ask for one.

I'm going to ask them for an explanation, should be interesting to see what they say.
