To be honest, Blue_Max, I was referring to their capabilities in terms of having the relevant skills and experience to be able to do the work rather than anything else. Perhaps appropriate wasn't the right word. I've edited my previous reply.

Just to let you know, I'll be sending this thread to the people at E.ON who make decisions about who we use for various things including contractors for ECO projects. Not saying this alone will make a difference but, if there have been similar complaints, it'll certainly add weight to these.

Sorry for using the wrong term Blue_Max. Hope this makes my meaning a bit clearer.

I was with a multunational that was customer oriented and used to invest millions of dollars to receive feedback from customers to improve products and services.
So I congratulate you Malc for taking the initiative to send this thread to people who make decisions.

As a matter of interest, in the event of a customer not placing the order, who foots the bill for sending an assessor and other associated expenses?
Would it be the installer, EON or by the fund?
    Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply Blue_Max. Been out of the office since last Wednesday. Thanks also for your comments. Helena and I regularly send reports about Forum issues to those at E.ON who decide on policy and the like. Can't guarantee it'll always have an impact but at least they're aware of feelings on the Forums.

Don't know the answer to your question but I can certainly ask the question.

Sorry again for the late reply Blue_Max.

Morning Blue_Max. Just following on from my post last night about the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme. We pick up the tab for costs associated with the scheme.

Blue_Max, is the issue that you don't qualify for the ECO scheme, or is it that additional work is needed? Do you live in a flat for instance, or would you need additional pipework to a normal setup?

I think the lack of information that is frustrating you is due to having so many links in the chain. The second person that came out to you will be a sub contractor, hence why One Green Place do not have the information you need. OGP do not do the install themselves. Did the gas engineer not tell you who he worked for? If not, if you have his name you can look it up on the Gas Safe Register and contact them directly.

For the sake of balance, I have helped arrange two installs and OGP has been excellent. It is a slow process but very good value (each customer paid £240). I think the key is speaking to the right people, and your case is no longer with them but a sub contractor.

    @ 'tomtontom'

I had ONE VISIT from an assessor. He told me his name. He did not tell me the name of the company he works for.
    No second person was sent.
No visit from a gas engineer.

If as you say, "your case is no longer with them but a sub contractor", why is it that the 1greenplace salespeople keep phoning asking for £1400 contribution?
Despite repeated requests, 1greenplace has not confirmed their demand or other details by email.

It would be foolish to sent any amount of money to anyone, based on verbal requests alone.

Please read posts #17 and #19

The assessor asked me to sign about six documents on his iPad.
When asked for copies, he said that they will be sent to me by post. We did not receive any.
In retrospect, though I signed these forms based on his assurances, I should not have done so.

Later 1greenplace sent me more forms by email, that I signed and returned.

1greenplace have acquired a lot of private information. In veiw of the shady conduct of 1greenplace, worry is that the information could get misused in some way.

Well I have had 2 companies carry out surveys to my house now arranged by eon!

The first one was done by a company called HSR. Waited for over 2 months and nothing happened. I then contacted eon who told me that they don't use HSR anymore and they have arranged for 1green place to come and survey.

Another couple of months went before finally got them to come and look and they told me I had to pay £650 towards the cost of the boiler and it was being replaced the following Monday ( 3 days time)> I paid the money immeditely. Monday came and went, and no sign of the work. The whole week came and went and finally got a call from 1GP to say they were coming the following Tuesday! 10 days late!

installer came in, had a look and said they couldn't do the work and surveyor has to come back in to resurvey!

Called 1GP up as I haven't heard anything from them, and now they tell me all the boiler replacements from them is now on a 5 week delay due to financial problems!

So why would eon use a company like this?

I want to know when eon are going to sort out this issue as it has now been twice and it seems that eon will have to now send a 3rd contractor to come and do the work!

extremely frustrated as want to know what is now going to happen to the £650 that I paid 1GP direct?

I would stay away from 1GP if eon send them around to your house for now!
  • It sounds to me like 1GreenPlace is about to go bankrupt. I had a promise from one of their Customer Sales reps that if I had payment ready by Tuesday 9th August that the installation would go ahead (I had already had the Energy Performance Certificate). I rang them fifteen minutes ago to say I was ready to transfer payment and was told that the Customer Sales rep who got me a good deal was "on holiday" and that all reps had been told last Wednesday that there was a freeze on all new installations including for CUSTOMERS WHO HAD ALREADY PAID! So their word, far from being their bond, is not worth a pitcher of warm spit.

I requested an e-mail confirmation of the situation and got this:

    Hi Mr Snowtiger99
Due to unforeseen circumstances we currently have a delay progressing applications due to coverage issues. This delay is currently estimated at a minimum of 4-5 weeks and we apologies for the inconvenience this may cause. We will be back in touch with you as soon as possible to progress your application if you so wish.

    Many thanks,
    The 1GreenPlace Admin Team

For a government-backed scheme this ECO business/scheme/scam is worse than a joke. I am so sad that pensioners are getting sucked in because they feel that it is the only way that they can be guaranteed hot water in the coming winter. There does not appear to be an ombudsman that you can go to when problems arise. This is the second company that has let me down after alleging that I could get a cheaper boiler under the ECO scheme. They were even worse that 1GreenPlace because they refused to say which of the big six was sponsoring them. The best advice would appear to be: buy your boiler yourself (Screwfix seem to have a good range) and pay a local installer but only after you know his physical address and you have verified it.
