Eco boiler scheme - 1 Green Place

Afternoon Blue_Max.
It depends on individual circumstances really. We'll deal with applications for boilers under ECO, establish eligibility, arrange a home visit to see what we can offer and, if all's well, appoint a suitable contractor to do the work. After this, it's largely down to the installer as to the type of boiler used.
I've had a word with our ECO team and they've advised, where Green Place are the contractors, they generally use either Worcester Bosch or Valiant boilers. This is by no means certain, though, and individual circumstances can result in another type of boiler being used. It's something customers can discuss during the home visit I mentioned above.
We also have no influence on the guarantees given. The boiler guarantee is usually the same as that given by the manufacturer. Similarly, the work actually needed to fit the boiler is covered by the installer's guarantee. This is another aspect that can be discussed during the home visit.
Sorry this is a bit vague Blue_Max but hope it gives a bit of an insight.

E.ON customer services told me that they would not know what their installers fit!
So, thank you very much for your informative reply.
Search for 'Green Place' did not get me anywhere.
Could you please let me know the full name of this company or their URL?
Thanks!0 -
You're welcome Blue_Max. Glad to help.
Sorry for the duff information when you called. ECO enquiries/applications are looked after by advisors with specialist knowledge. I suspect the person you spoke to wasn't in this area. If you do need to talk to us again, contact details for the ECO team are on our website under 'Saving Energy.' It's the last FAQ for 'energy saving home improvements.' Definitely the best people to talk to at E.ON about ECO.
The full name for Green Place is 1 Green Place. If you Google this, they'll appear at the top of the page. Sorry but MSE don't like company reps posting links to websites.
Hope this helps Blue_Max and have good Bank Holiday.

Thank you Malc for your fast reply.
On 26 May 2016, an online application was made at the 'Energy saving home improvements' page at eonenergy.com
We received a phone call. It was then he said that E.ON do not know what the installers fit! I guess its just that person and that it does not represent the service that E.ON normally provide.
Found 1greenplace on the net.
Can an application be made through E.ON and have the 1greenplace to install a Worcester-Bosch boiler? Backup from E.ON and your good self could come in handy in case things go wrong!
Thanks again!0 -
Sorry for the late reply Blue_Max. Not been in since Friday.
Following your application and our phone call, has a home visit been arranged? If it has, this is the best time to talk about your situation and what we're able to offer under the ECO scheme. As above, each application is looked at based on the individual circumstances at each property. The assessor will be able to tell you much more including if there are any costs you'll need to pay for things like safety work, pipework, scaffolding or extra radiators.
Sorry again for the late reply.

1greenplace sent an assessor.
He promised, "You will get a free boiler".
When asked are you sure?! He repeatedly said, "Your boiler is too old. It is broken down".
"You will get a free boiler; 99% guaranteed!".
After that 1greenplace sent a letter, made couple of automated phone calls and several 'no reply' emails, saying that an estimated contribution is required. Amount of contribution required was not mentioned. Was asked to phone to "proceed with the application"
1greenplace salemen also phoned many times saying "We want a £1400 contribution from you".
They will not confirm the figure in writing.
Email was sent to 1greenplace:
Please let me know
1. The contribution required.
2. A breakdown showing how this contribution was made up.
3. a copy of the Energy Performance Report.
4. Make and model of the boiler that you intend to fit along with details of guarantees.
5. Any additional costs to complete the full installation.
1greenplace did not reply.
But different salesmen keep calling, asking for £1400.
High pressure tacticts were used, reply to questions were red herrings.
On the whole, their attitude was arrogant and condescending.
I told them to reply to the email sent.

Hello Blue_Max.
Is this the application you made through us? If it was, have you spoken with our ECO team as per my posts above? I'd certainly do this as you should be receiving more information than you have.
Sorry if I'm barking up the wrong tree Blue_Max. You know where I am if you need any help with this.

Hi Malc
First application was to EON.
E.ON customer services told me that they would not know what their installers fit.
Later, I received a response to the application, from Allan Coleman, Lead Advisor, ECO Contact Centre asking me for some documents. Scanned copies were emailed to him.
In that email, I also asked him,
"Is it at all possible for you to contact someone in your organisation who would know the make of boiler stocked by different installers that you use?!"
Do not recall receving a reply.
After reading posts #12 and #14 in this thread, I applied to 1greenplace.
See post #17 for details of the outcome.
Since 1greenplace did not reply, I forwarded my questions to Allan Coleman, who replied,
"E.ON also use 1 Green Place for the scheme – I’ve tried calling you to book you in for an assessment but I didn’t know you’re already going through it with them.
If you’d like to go through with E.ON could you please give us a call on 0330 400 1188, although the end result may be the same as we also use 1 Green Place."
I did not book an assessment by EON, as it would be a waste of time, if as Mr. Coleman said, "the end result may be the same as we also use 1 Green Place."
We still get phone calls from 1greenplace salesmen, asking for a £1400 contribution.
Despite clever tacticts that they use, I insist on a reply to the email that I sent.
Yesterday, one of them warned that my account will be cancelled if we do not pay them.0 -
Ah! I see Blue_Max. I thought it was strange as the sort of follow up you've had isn't the way our ECO team operates. Allan and the phone number you mention both belong to our ECO section so you've definitely been talking to the right people.
Totally understand your reluctance to go through us. The offer's still there but, as Allan says, we only use a limited number of contractors and 1 Green Place may be the best equipped to do the work. Guessing though.
Sorry I misunderstood earlier Blue_Max.
